Similar to Harry Shum Jr., DWTS left their most skilled dancer for last tonight. Jenna Dewan has experience as a backup dancer for some of the biggest pop stars of all-time, along with her performance as the co-star of the original Step Up. It’s safe to say the former pro lived up to expectations, ending Part 2 of the Season 35 with a bang! Jenna and Val will be legitimate contenders in this competition.
Sarah Jane Nader and Hailey Bills
- Dance: Jive
- Song: Sk8er Boi by Avril Lavigne
- Judges’ Scores: 14
Sarah Jane Nader is determined to make it further on Dancing With the Stars than her sister Brooks did. That may be a challenge after her first performance, which left the judges wanting more. If she returns for Week 2, fixing timing will be the focus.
Maura Higgins and Mark Ballas
- Dance: Foxtrot
- Song: Black Velvet by Alannah Myles
- Judges’ Scores: 21
The Traitors reunion is going to be fan favorite, and the opening of their dance was special. These two certainly know how to make a statement, but Maura’s stage presence was still shockingly impressive. The judges were equally impressed by her moves. The reality star is going to be one to watch moving forward, as demonstrated by their score of 21.
Julia Stiles and Ezra Sosa
- Dance: Quickstep
- Song: 9 to 5 by Dolly Parton
- Judges’ Scores: 18
There are at least 10 things I loved about this performance from Julia Stiles. The famous actress was very nervous heading into her first dance, but she settled in nicely. The audience got on their feet for both Stiles and the late, great Dolly Parton, whose song they danced to. The judges want more attack from Julia, but this was a strong start.
Giada De Laurentiis and Alan Bersten
- Dance: Tango
- Song: Venus by Bananarama
- Judges’ Scores: 16
Giada looked like a seasoned vet in her first DWTS performance! The judges just want to see more confidence out of the celebrity chef moving forward. As Derek said, “you have all the ingredients, now you just need to cook with conviction!”
Ciara Miller and Brandon Armstrong
- Dance: Foxtrot
- Song: Exhale by Whitney Houston
- Judges’ Scores: 15
Ciara Miller’s pretty skilled on the dance floor for a reality TV star! The judges highlighted how powerful and apparent her emotion was throughout the performance. Technique needs some work, but she has strong potential.
Amber Glenn and Pasha Pashkov
- Dance: Cha Cha
- Song: Smooth by Santana
- Judges’ Scores: 18
Aside from Harry Shum Jr. and Jenna Dewan, who are former professional dancers, Amber brings arguably the most potential in this competition as an Olympic figure skater. Glenn’s elite athleticism will set her apart from the field, and that’s exactly what happened in her first performance. Once she gets the technique down, watch out.
Tatyana Ali and Jan Ravnik

- Song: Knock on Wood by Eddie Floyd and Steve Cropper
- Judges’ Scores: 12
It’s a Fresh Prince reunion on Dancing With the Stars! The Banks siblings are sharing the screen once again, and Tatyana’s first dance had some ups and downs. What the judges agreed on, however, is that Tatyana undoubtedly has the talent to grow.

Dancing With the Stars will return Tuesday, September 22 at 8:00 p.m. ET, and the men and women will compete simultaneously after being separated for the Season 35 premiere.
