Who Won the Power of Veto and Who is In Danger of Being Evicted? Big Brother Season 28 Wednesday 7/15/26 Recap

The pieces are already beginning to move about the chessboard just days into Big Brother Season 28, with the reality icons — Dee, Devens and Angela — seemingly in a great spot with their Crossovers alliance with newbies Barrett and Drew.

Would the competition for the Power of Veto shake things up heading into the first eviction vote of the season? Read below to find out.

Facing the fallout

We see the aftermath of Dee’s nominations from Sunday’s episode, with Yash less than thrilled to find himself on the block after Dee promised the members of her HOH team safety. He’s already seeing her word as worthless, which could become a problem if Yash survives this week’s eviction vote. Kamu is also upset with Yash’s nomination, noting it could bring blowback to his “ally” Dee. But she, Devens and Angela feel like things went exactly as planned, with the trio in the middle of two alliances — the Crossovers and the Red Corner. But it’s crystal clear that the reality icons are true blue Crossover and willing to put their “Red” allies off in the corner.

Taylor is devestated to find herself on the block, looking to stay calm and not give people a reason to send her home. Dee wants to build a relationship with Taylor, appreciating her no-nonsense demeanor. Taylor wants to work with Dee too, but knows she can’t depend on her and needs to save her own game in the veto competition.

Unfortunately, Mallory can’t say the same as she has an emotional reaction to seeing her key in the block. She is rattled and throws out the names of Ashley and Barrett as who she would have nominated, which is immediately seen as a bad move by Drew as well as Mallory’s ally Melody. Later, Dee tells Mallory that she doesn’t want her to go home … but admits in the diary room that while Yash is her main target, Mallory is her backup.

Off-key Melody?

Mallory’s reaction has Melody and Lyric re-thinking their alliance with her. The duo head to the HOH room and immediately begin distancing themselves from Mallory, making sure that Dee doesn’t group them together and see them as potential re-nomination candidates.

Melody notes that she came here to win, and feels like she did a good job of damage control (even if, personally, I think she may have gone a little too far, too fast in ditching Mallory). She begins searching out new allies and sets her sights on Drew (even if she found him annoying at first) as a potential option to help her branch out beyond her current allies. Drew is down, as long as they set each other in stone as No. 1s — even if he sees how she moved in abandoning Mallory as a red flag and really views her as a backup on the outside to his main group, the Crossovers. Drew leaves no doubt — he has the Crossovers in the No. 1 position, but sees Melody as someone who could be useful to his game.

No playing around

It’s time to pick players for the veto comp. Barrett is happy to get picked and get a chance to redeem himself, meanwhile Melody is happy to be picked as well as a superfan but makes it clear she WILL NOT be using it on Mallory. Barrett also reveals to the camera that he wants to win … but he doesn’t want to save anybody.

Yash gets his chance to talk to Dee and express his disappointment in being put on the block. For her part, Dee doesn’t remember promising her team safety (which she absolutely did). Now with two of her nominees upset with her, Dee has even more motivation to win and keep the nominations the same.

Melody has a discussion with Mallory and it’s clear that Melody is not going to help her “friend” out. Melody’s body language and energy is PAINFUL in this chat. She doesn’t even try to hide how much she’s trying to distance herself from Mallory, which of course Mallory picks up on and feels some kind of way about. Melody may have to sing a different tune if Mallory finds a way to take herself off the block.

Say his name and he appears…

After Angela tells a story about dancing with Howie on a BB cruise, the Big Brother legend — or a distant relative from the year 2248, at least — appears in the house to bring word from the future and Will World, led by the infamous Dr. Will. Howie explains that Dr. Will stole the time table during the premiere to steal tech and build his future empire. Now he needs the houseguests to help end Dr. Will’s reign of handsome horribleness.

That help will come in the form of the veto competition. The competitors need to connect their time tubes to the dining table, which Howie has connected to Will’s throne, so that they can send him … Back From The Future!

It’s challenege making the different size pipes fight just right — even if Yash is feeling like Goldilocks — and Barrett, Dee and Taylor are quickly feeling frustrated. Meanwhile, it’s all systems go for rocket scientist Mallory.

After a brief bout with a busted pipe, Mallory is able to engineer herself off the block and send Dr. Will back to the past. She’s thrilled, but Yash and Taylor are none too thrilled to find themsleves still on the block, Melody feels like she could be a re-nom thanks to her ties to Mallory and Barrett would have loved to have won so he could keep Dee’s nominees the same.

Dee is also less than than thrilled as she has to nominate another houseguest. Ashley joins Melody and Haley in the hammock with two of the three feeling the heat. Haley, despite appearing sympathetic to the girls’ plight, is sitting pretty (or so she thinks) as she’s in the Red Corner alliance with Dee. Her little laugh at the end isn’t going to help her beat the allegations that she’s not a girl’s girl.

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry

Jason is having a heart-to-heart with Angela … or that’s what she thinks at least. It becomes clear that despite her good intentions and willingness to offer a hug, Jason is straight up playing her. He using her desire to be the house mama against her and having fun doing it.

Speaking of fun, he’s vibing with Drew and Melody, so he suggests the trio become an alliance … the Court Jesters. Melody feels good as the trio can share information and numbers. Jason drops the mask a bit and reveals that he’s targeting all the icons so the real icon can shine. Specifically, he talks about playing Angela and how he wants to target Devens and backdoor him if he can win HOH. Unfortunately, he’s spilling the beans to Drew, who is aligned with Devens and Angela, who plans to take the info back to them and give the Crossovers the last laugh.

True to that promise, he runs right to Dee and spills the tea, who notes he’s lucky he’s safe this week otherwise he would look good on the block as a replacement nominee. Meanwhile, in taking this info to Devens it reaffirms his value to the Survivor star’s game. Angela is aghast at the manipulation and breaks down in the diary room, saying her heart is broken. Old Angela would have gone to war with Jason, breaking her alliance with Drew in the process. But new Angela plans to play into it and use this knowledge to her advantage. Game on!

Welcome to the block party

Ashley goes to Dee and looks to make a subtle case to keep herself off the block, but Dee admits that Ashley is under consideration for the block. Dee says if she’s sticking to her strategy of one person from each group, then logic dictates it’s going to have to be Barrett or Ashley. And it’s definitely not going to be Crossover member Barrett.

Melody also pops by the HOH room to make sure things are good with Dee. Melody is correcting her mistakes, showcasing to Dee that she is a gamer. Perhaps more so than Ashley, giving the HOH pause ahead of a tough decision.

Ultimately, Dee chooses Ashley to be the replacement nominee after Mallory does the expected thing and plays the Power of Veto on herself. Dee says it came down to staying true to her logic of picking one person from each group in the HOH competition. It’s nothing personal, Dee says it just came down to having limited options. Dee doesn’t want to make waves, so while this isn’t the biggest move she can make it’s the smartest one.

All three of the nominees will have one more chance to remove themselves from the block in the BB Blockbuster. The BB Blockbuster competition will take place during Thursday’s live episode right before the vote for eviction occurs.

As I noted in my recap of Sunday’s episode, alliances are already forming in the Big Brother house. Here’s where we stand as of right now when it comes to alliances, including some formed on the live feeds and not yet seen in episodes on CBS:
