Saturday’s MLB slate winds down with a late-slate matchup between NL West rivals. The Los Angeles Dodgers remain the top dogs in the sport and bring ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto to the mound today. In their way stand the Arizona Diamondbacks, who are hovering at the .500 mark and trying to get back into the Wild Card picture. First pitch is set for 9:10 p.m. ET.

Here’s a betting prediction and pick for this Diamondbacks vs. Dodgers matchup courtesy of MLB odds and lines on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Diamondbacks vs. Dodgers prediction, preview

There’s a very clear difference between these two NL West competitors. The Diamondbacks are feisty, but have a -22 run differential and are 13.5 games back of first in the division. The Dodgers are comfortably in the lead with a +158 differential themselves. Sounds like a fair fight, yeah?

We’ll start with the back-to-back champs here. Los Angeles is 61-34 and still paces the MLB with a .783 OPS on a .264/.346/.438 slash line, which translates to 5.27 runs per game, second most. The Dodgers have a .174 ISO that ranks third and 126 home runs as well, fifth most. The plate approach also includes a 10.5% BB% that’s good for third and a 20.3% K% that falls fourth, adding up to an MLB-best 0.52 BB/K ratio. As if that’s not enough, they maintain an absurd .793 OPS (.269/.351/.442) against right-handed pitching like they face in tonight’s opposing starter.

The Diamondbacks’ production pales in comparison at 47-47 with that negative run differential. They produce just 4.28 runs per outing and slot in at 25th in OPS with a .690 mark, slashing .237/.307/.382 overall. They’re excellent at avoiding strikeouts with a 19.6% K%, but an 8.4% BB% isn’t much to brag about and the club very much lacks power upside — a .145 ISO comes in at just 25th and their 85 home runs are second fewest of any MLB club. That’s held them back significantly this year, as have the lefty/righty splits. The D-Backs are awesome against southpaws, but pale against right-handers with a paltry .659 OPS (.224/.398/.361).

Now for the arms. Los Angeles trots out standout RHP Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who’s 9-5 in 16 starts with a 2.49 ERA, an 0.88 WHIP and 100 strikeouts over the course of 104.2 IP. He’s produced like the elite arm he’s known as, also limiting walks to just 5.3%. Meanwhile, Arizona RHP Brandon Pfaadt has certainly struggled over the last couple of seasons. After posting a 5.25 ERA in 2025, he now has a 2-1 record with a 4.84 ERA, a 1.34 WHIP and 39 strikeouts across 48.1 IP this year. His role has shifted some this season, but he’s looked a little bit better as of late.

Diamondbacks vs. Dodgers pick, best bet

DraftKings Sportsbook lists the Dodgers as -283 home favorites on the Moneyline tonight. The Diamondbacks are underdogs with +226 odds to win outright on the road. The total sits at nine combined runs as well.

Best Bet: Yoshinobu Yamamoto eight or fewer H + BB + ER allowed (-116)

Yamamoto is a true star in this league, and tonight he gets a matchup that’s about as ideal as he could ask for. Arizona is the worst club in the MLB against right-handers with its .659 OPS via a .298 OBP and .361 SLG, while a .265 BABIP and a .137 ISO don’t threaten extra bases when the batters do put the ball in play. That bodes extremely well for the Japanese hurler, who threw seven shutout innings in his most recent start. Yamamoto has an excellent WHIP and keeps earned runs down. Last time he played against the Diamondbacks in his opening start, he went 6.0 innings with two earned runs allowed on five hits and zero walks, too. He’s going to dominate this outing, allowing us to hit this line of eight or fewer combined H + BB + ER.
