Bautista’s first UFC fight came against Sandhagen. Since then, he has gone 11-2 while Sandhagen is 8-5 in that span. Bautista is 9-1 in his previous 10 contests, with his lone loss in that span coming against Umar Nurmagomedov. Although Sandhagen’s record since facing Bautista isn’t as good, it is because his strength of schedule is on a different level.
In this fight, Sandhagen is taller by two inches (5’11” vs. 5’9″) and has a slight edge in standing reach (70″ vs. 69″). Both fighters do their best work on the feet, and it is close. Bautista averages 5.30 significant strikes per minute compared to Sandhagen’s 4.86.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, Sandhagen is a -148 favorite with Bautista being a +124 underdog. The over/under is 2.5 rounds, with the over being -270 and the under being +200. Although Sandhagen has lost two of three, I think this is a good stylistic matchup for him to get back on track. If Sandhagen can keep Bautista at range while having a higher volume than he did against Dvalishvili, plenty of success should be in his future.
