Colorado Rockies vs. Miami Marlins prediction, pick for MLB on Wednesday 7/01/26

Miami enters Coors Field with the rarest kind of altitude confidence: a hot lineup already comfortable inside the disorder. The Marlins are 46-40 after a 20-6 June, with six wins in their last seven games. Colorado sits 33-53, trying to avoid a home sweep after two brutal defensive nights. Miami won 10-7 on Monday, then turned Tuesday into a 14-3 demolition. The Marlins have scored 24 runs on 31 hits in the series, including a season-high 21 hits Tuesday. Griffin Conine, Kyle Stowers, and Xavier Edwards combined for 11 hits and five RBI from the 2-4 spots. Javier Sanoja, Joe Mack, and Owen Caissie all homered. Miami’s season offense brings a .251/.326/.398 slash, 100 wRC+, 78 HR, 94 steals, 8.9% walk rate, and 21.7% strikeout rate. Below is my preview, prediction, and pick for today’s baseball game between the Colorado Rockies and the Miami Marlins.

Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

Rockies vs. Marlins prediction, preview

Max Meyer gives Miami the largest starting-pitcher edge on the board. He enters 9-0 with a 2.60 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and 107 strikeouts across 97 innings. His deeper profile supports the record: 26.7% strikeout rate, 9.0% walk rate, 0.74 HR/9, 42.3% ground-ball rate, 3.30 FIP, and 3.74 xFIP. Meyer also carries a .274 wOBA allowed, .298 xwOBA, 89.0 mph average exit velocity, 40.6% hard-hit rate, 8.0% barrel rate, and 13.9-degree launch angle. His June was excellent: 30.1 innings, 24 hits, six earned runs, 33 strikeouts, 11 walks, 1.78 ERA, and 1.15 WHIP. Coors trims the margin case because a walk, flare, and wall ball can spoil a clean cover.

Kyle Freeland is the game’s biggest leak. He enters 1-7 with a 7.50 ERA, 1.61 WHIP, 99 hits, 60 earned runs, and 16 homers allowed across 72 innings. The deeper numbers are just as harsh: 5.85 xERA, 5.22 FIP, 4.51 xFIP, .353 BABIP, 38.2% ground-ball rate, and 2.00 HR/9. The contact sheet adds more gasoline, with a .406 wOBA allowed, .375 xwOBA, 90.8 mph average exit velocity, and 44.2% hard-hit rate. He has allowed too many balls in play, too much lift, and too many runners in the sport’s most punishing outfield. Miami has already timed the gaps, handled the breaking stuff, and turned ordinary contact into multi-base pressure.

The Marlins’ scoring form looks sustainable because the damage is distributed. Edwards is the rhythm piece, carrying a .304/.382/.434 slash, 125 wRC+, 11.6% walk rate, and 12.2% strikeout rate after a four-hit Tuesday. Conine has already changed this series with Monday’s pinch-hit three-run homer, and his profile brings a .286/.375/.531 line, .245 ISO, .393 wOBA, and 149 wRC+. Stowers gives the middle another power bat, while Sanoja nearly hit for the cycle Monday before homering Tuesday. Mack and Caissie added lower-order thunder in the blowout, which matters against a Rockies staff chasing outs. Miami can score through singles, doubles, walks, steals, and one swing. That is the proper Coors blend.

Marlins vs. Rockies pick, best bet

Colorado’s comeback threat deserves respect, which is why the bet isolates Miami’s scoring. The Rockies own a .254/.325/.415 team slash, 94 HR, 62 steals, 8.2% walk rate, and 23.3% strikeout rate. Their 92 wRC+ undersells the danger at altitude, where late contact and bullpen stress can bend any margin. Goodman owns 26 HR, a .298 ISO, .541 slugging mark, .359 wOBA, and 114 wRC+, even with a 33.0% strikeout rate. Rumfield adds stability at .294/.374/.490, .377 wOBA, and 126 wRC+, with a 13-game hitting streak alive. Moniak supplies lift at 13 HR, .301 ISO, .561 SLG, and 123 wRC+. Meyer is clearly the better arm, but Colorado’s top half can still turn one command wobble into a crooked inning.

The bullpen picture seals the Miami team-total angle. Colorado blew Monday’s lead after Victor Vodnik allowed Conine’s go-ahead three-run homer, then Senzatela gave up a four-run seventh. Tuesday was worse. Gordon allowed five earned, Halvorsen allowed three earned on four hits, and Brebbia gave up five earned, five hits, and two homers. Halvorsen threw 25 pitches, Brebbia threw 48, and catcher Brett Sullivan handled the final 1.2 innings. Miami’s bullpen also has usage concerns after Brzykcy threw 39 pitches and Gibson threw 20 on Tuesday, with Petersen, Faucher, and Fairbanks working Monday. That keeps the full-game over alive and the run line less pristine.

Freeland’s 7.50 ERA, 1.61 WHIP, 2.00 HR/9, and Colorado’s exhausted relief map make the cleaner bet Marlins team total over 6.5 (+110), playable to even money. The top alternate is Marlins -1.5 (-106).

Projected score: Marlins 8, Rockies 5.

Best bet: Marlins TT o6.5 runs (+110) at Rockies
