After 1,271 days of waiting, the FIFA World Cup is back. Nearly four years ago, Argentina took down France to claim the title for the third time, but that’s in the past now. All focus lies on the 2026 World Cup, which continues at 10 p.m. ET as Son Heung-min and South Korea take on Czechia in Group A.

FT: And that’s all she wrote. It’s a come-from-behind win for South Korea as they get the three points. Mexico and South Korea sit atop of Group A with three points, while Czechia and South Africa have none.
79‘: GOAL FOR SOUTH KOREA. They’ve done it again! Just minutes after Czechia scored a goal that was ruled out for offside, it’s the substitute Oh Hyeon-Gyu who finds the net. They’ve turned it around and now lead 2-1.
69‘: That’s the end of the night for Son Heung-min, who is substituted for Oh Hyeon-Gyu. Son finished the night with six shots, one on target.
66′: GOAL FOR SOUTH KOREA. That didn’t take long. Hwang In-beom had some swift feet in the box and made enough space to chip the keeper and the ball trickled into the net. We have it all to play for with 24 minutes plus added time remaining. 1-1.
58′: GOAL FOR CZECHIA. They may not have had as many chances as South Korea, but they’ve put the ball in the back of the net. The goal came from a long throw, and it’s the Czech captain Ladislav Krejčí who heads it home. 1-0 Czechia.
55′: What a chance for Son. He’s played through on goal on the left side of the box and tries to chip it over the goalkeeper, but hits him in the chest. It’s the first shot on target for him, but that should’ve been 1-0.
HT: We are level at 0-0 at the break. Son finished the half with five shots, none of which were on target.
45+1′: Another chance for Son. A lovely one two inside the box from South Korea and the ball finds Son Heung-min, but he scuffs his opportunity and mishits the ball. You get the feeling at some point he’s going to take advantage of these chances.
38′: BIG CHANCE. Son gets the ball in space again, this time taking on a few defenders. He gets the ball to the edge of the box and hits it with his left foot, but misses it wide to the left. South Korea’s star is getting closer.
37′: Son finds some space outside of the box around 25-30 yards out from goal and takes a pop at goal. The LAFC forward gets too much air under it, and the ball sails over the crossbar.
14′: Another blocked shot from Son. South Korea worked a short corner and played the ball into the box on the floor towards Son, but another Czech player got in the way. That’s already two shots from the former Tottenham forward.
11′: Son gets his first chance of the game, but it’s blocked and deflected out for a corner. It was some great play from the Koreans to get the ball in the box, and the ball was laid off to Son. Unfortunately, he couldn’t take advantage. South Korea are starting to gain control of this game.
3′: Son gets his first sight of the ball, but he’s caught offside on a through ball.
1′: And we’re off! We have kickoff in Guadalajara, and the second game of the 2026 World Cup is underway. Czechia starts with possession.
