Rick and Morty is back, showing no signs of slowing down. Season 9 got rolling last week with yet another metatextual recognition of how endless the show’s run seems, all while some of Adult Swim’s other hits have come and gone.

If you are ready for more crude sci-fi adventures, here is everything you need to know before Rick and Morty Season 9 Episode 2 premieres:

When does Rick and Morty Season 9 Episode 2 come out?

Rick and Morty Season 9 Episode 2 will premiere on Adult Swim at 11 p.m. ET on Sunday, May 31. The episode, which is titled Rick Days, Seven Nights, will have a runtime around 22 minutes. It will not be available to stream until Monday, June 15 on HBO Max and Hulu. From then on, new episodes will release next-day on both streaming services.

As was the case with the past seven seasons, Season 9 will be 10 episodes long. It will run through the finale on Sunday, July 26.

(Warning: Spoilers for Rick and Morty Season 9 Episode 1 ahead.)

Who will show up this episode?

Rick and Morty has had a pretty stable cast over the years, barring Adult Swim cutting ties with co-creator and lead voice actor Justin Roiland in 2023. The two titular roles are now filled by separate people, as they were in Seasons 7 and 8. Here is a look at the recurring cast, as well as who they are playing:

  • Ian Cardoni as Rick Sanchez
  • Harry Belden as Morty Smith
  • Chris Parnell as Jerry Smith
  • Sarah Chalke as Beth Smith / Space Beth
  • Spencer Grammer as Summer Smith

Dan Harmon, Kari Wahlgren and Tom Kenny have made various appearances as multiple characters over the years, and will probably pop up in Season 9 as well. Keith David’s President Curtis, who is getting his own spinoff show that starts in July, could also show up at some point this season.

What to expect in Rick and Morty Season 9 Episode 2

The Season 9 premiere led things off with an unexpected dose of continuity and lore, bringing Evil Morty back to throw a wrench into Rick and Morty’s own relationship. The Time Cops from Season 2 returned to imprison Evil Morty, though, so we probably won’t get more of that character until future seasons – if at all.

Based on the lookahead for Season 9 Episode 2, the main plot will seemingly center around Rick and his mundane bowling buddies in a snowy, rural town. They call him Ted, so he is presumably hiding his identity and futuristic technology from the group.
