For the first time since 1976, Aronimink Golf Club (par 70, 7,394 yards, bentgrass greens) in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, is hosting the PGA Championship. Aronimink also hosted the BMW Championship in 2018 and the AT&T National in 2010 and 2011. There will be 156 players competing at the PGA Championship this week and a top-70 and ties cut after the first two rounds.
Below, I have featured two of my favorite outright long shot bets to win the PGA Championship on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Robert MacIntyre (+7200)
You aren’t going to see MacIntyre with long odds like this often and while he is in questionable form, the Scot is worth rolling the dice on at this price. MacIntyre has finished MC, T-42 and T-60 in his last three starts, but prior to this, he had carded back-to-back top-five finishes.
MacIntyre has finished inside the top-five three times this season and he is only seven months removed from his four-shot win at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship last October.
Including a runner-up at last year’s U.S. Open, MacIntyre has finished inside the top-10 in two of his last three starts at a major and his game sets up well for Aronimink. This is a long par 70 that features huge greens and performing well with both your driver and putter is essential at Aronimink. Two of the past three winners here have finished the event top-10 in both SG OTT and SGP, and MacIntyre encouragingly ranks top-12 in both these metrics this season.
Shane Lowry (+10500)
Lowry hasn’t had the greatest season, but there is no way the former major champion’s odds should be this long. Lowry has made 7-of-10 cuts this season with two top-10 finishes, most notably a runner-up at the Cognizant Classic in March.
Lowry finished T-23 at the Cadillac Championship in his last start. While not an overly compelling finish, the Irishman closed this Signature Event with a bang, posting a 7-under 65 in the final round at the Blue Monster Course. This marked Lowry’s second-lowest score of the season and if he can carry this momentum over to Aronimink this week, Lowry contending is a possibility.
The 39-year-old ranks 24th in SGP this season and Lowry has been impressive at the PGA Championship, finishing inside the top-12 in five of his last eight starts at the major.
