The MLB has a busy Monday night schedule to start the work week, with seven games on the main DFS fantasy baseball slate that starts at 7:07 p.m. ET with a World Series rematch as the Dodgers visit the Blue Jays. Coors Field is also in play later in the evening, and the slate closes with a matchup between the Phillies and the Giants by the Bay. If you’re looking for some MLB DFS value picks to round out your roster on this Monday night slate, check out these three affordable options that come with major upside.
The weather has been making a major impact early in the season, and that will continue in some spots on Monday night. It will be extremely cold in Minnesota, while the wind will be blowing out in Anaheim and San Francisco, with warmer temperatures for the late games. A few teams are back to their aces for the third time through the rotation, while others are still at the end of their second time, setting up more favorable matchups to attack.

Best MLB DFS value plays
SP Jose Soriano, Los Angeles Angels vs. Atlanta Braves, $7,200
Of the probable pitchers on Monday night, Soriano makes a strong play at home after turning in two strong starts on the road to start the year. Soriano started on Opening Day for the Halos and went six shutout innings with two hits and seven strikeouts for 27.9 FPTS. He improved to 2-0 with another win and 23.1 FPTS against the Cubs, twirling six more shutout innings with two hits and four strikeouts.
Soriano flashed a very high ceiling but was boom-or-bust last year on his way to a 10-11 record, 4.26 ERA, and 3.73 FIP. He was better on the road last year than at home, but he’ll look to improve his home numbers this year, starting with this contest against the Braves. Atlanta is 6-4 after losing two straight in Arizona, but they have the fewest strikeouts in the majors, which limits Soriano’s ceiling a little bit. Soriano still has good value potential if he can continue to be so effective, though, especially since he has allowed no runs on four hits in 12 innings so far this season.
1B T.J. Rumfield, Colorado Rockies vs. Houston Astros, $2,800
I highlighted Rumfield in my home run props for the day, and the 25-year-old lefty makes a great value play for DFS lineups as well. Rumfield homered on Sunday and has at least 14 FPTS in three of his last seven starts. He has carried over his momentum from a red-hot spring training, when he homered five times in 23 games.
Rumfield will likely get the start against righty Cody Bolton ($4,000), who will be making his first MLB start at Coors Field. While conditions are not quite at their best for offense in Denver this early in the season, the elevation still gives home runs a boost, and Rumfield brings plenty of power potential from his affordable salary under $3,000.
OF Parker Meadows, Detroit Tigers at Minnesota Twins, $2,800
Meadows is healthy this season for the Tigers after being limited to only 58 games last year with an arm injury. The 26-year-old lefty has had breakout potential for the last few years but hasn’t been able to stay healthy enough to establish himself as a consistent contributor.
He’s off to a good start this season, going 7-for-25 (.280) with a double, a triple, two walks and three stolen bases. He had two hits in each of his last two games and stole two bases in the three-game series with the Cardinals, producing 9, 15 and 11 FPTS. Meadows and the Tigers head to Minnesota to face the Twins this week, and on Monday, they’ll take on Joe Ryan ($8,200) in a tough matchup. With cold conditions, power hitters could be hard to rely on, but Meadows’ speed and solid contact this season help him still have good upside from this salary under $3,000 on Monday’s slate.
