Top Pitching Matchups for April 6, 2026
- Brandon Woodruff faces a Red Sox team that is currently fifth in the league in K%.
- Casey Mize faces a Twins club slashing just .204/.315/.349.
- Logan Gilbert hopes to turn his luck around as his xERA of 2.27 is nowhere near his current 6.75 ERA.
Chicago Cubs vs. Tampa Bay Rays Probable Pitchers
- Chicago Cubs: Jameson Taillon
- Tampa Bay Rays: Shane McClanahan
- Time: 4:10 PM ET
Taillon shut out the Angels through 4.2 innings but not without a lot of defensive behind him. His 5.20 xERA and 4.47 FIP tells a much different story. He’ll face McClanahan, who just made his first start since 2023. He allowed three runs (two earned) on two hits with four strikeouts against the Brewers.
Kansas City Royals vs. Cleveland Guardians Probable Pitchers
- Kansas City Royals: Michael Wacha
- Cleveland Guardians: Tanner Bibee
- Time: 6:10 PM ET
Wacha was excellent on the road last season, posting a 3.75 ERA with a .288 wOBA and a 4.08 FIP. He’ll oppose Bibee who was equally good at home last year with a 3.22 ERA, a .273 wOBA and a 3.59 FIP.
Cincinnati Reds vs. Miami Marlins Probable Pitchers
- Cincinnati Reds: Brandon Williamson
- Miami Marlins: Janson Junk
- Time: 6:40 PM ET
Williamson got wrecked in his first start against the Pirates, allowing six runs on six hits through 4.2 innings. Junk will look to build off a solid start against the White Sox, which saw him whiff five over 4.1 innings.
San Diego Padres vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Probable Pitchers
- San Diego Padres: German Marquez
- Pittsburgh Pirates: Bubba Chandler
- Time: 6:40 PM ET
One has to wonder how long Marquez will last in this Padres rotation, as 2026 started off with him giving up four runs on eight hits to the Giants in three innings. He’ll face Chandler, who showed off that strikeout upside with six through 4.1 innings against the Reds.
Milwaukee Brewers vs. Boston Red Sox Probable Pitchers
- Milwaukee Brewers: Brandon Woodruff
- Boston Red Sox: Brayan Bello
- Time: 6:45 PM ET
Woodruff is in an excellent matchup to pile on the strikeouts against a Red Sox team that is 5th in the league in K%. He’ll be opposed by Bello, who last season had a solid 3.35 ERA but an xERA of 4.48.
St. Louis Cardinals vs. Washington Nationals Probable Pitchers
- St. Louis Cardinals: Andre Pallante
- Washington Nationals: Zack Littell
- Time: 6:45 PM ET
Pallante was generating the ground balls in his first start, doing so 67% of the time. However the damage could have been extensive, as he owned an xERA of 4.47. He’ll be facing Zack Littell, who gave up 36 home runs in 32 starts in 2025.
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Toronto Blue Jays Probable Pitchers
- Los Angeles Dodgers: Justin Wrobleski
- Toronto Blue Jays: Max Scherzer
- Time: 7:07 PM ET
Wrobleski is making a spot start with the Dodgers in the midst of a six-game road trip. He mainly worked out of the bullpen last season but does have eight starts under his belt. He owns a 7.62 ERA with a .382 wOBA and a 6.76 FIP. He’ll face the veteran Scherzer, who allowed one run on four hits against the Rockies in his 2026 debut.
Baltimore Orioles vs. Chicago White Sox Probable Pitchers
- Baltimore Orioles: TBD
- Chicago White Sox: Grant Taylor
- Time: 7:40 PM ET
Taylor will serve as the opener for tonight’s game against the Orioles. It’s not confirmed who will enter after he departs.
Detroit Tigers vs. Minnesota Twins Probable Pitchers
- Detroit Tigers: Casey Mize
- Minnesota Twins: Joe Ryan
- Time: 7:40 PM ET
Mize picked right up where he left off last season, twirling six solid innings allowing just one run on four hits with nine strikeouts against the Diamondbacks. He’ll face Ryan, who was knocked around by the Royals in his second start, giving up five runs on nine hits in four innings.
Seattle Mariners vs. Texas Rangers Probable Pitchers
- Seattle Mariners: Logan Gilbert
- Texas Rangers: Jacob deGrom
- Time: 8:05 PM ET
Gilbert has already been running into so bad luck, as his bloated 6.75 ERA is accompanied by a xERA of 2.27 and 2.81 FIP. Same came be said for deGrom, as his 5.79 ERA from his first start had a xERA of 2.92 and a 2.97 FIP.
Houston Astros vs. Colorado Rockies Probable Pitchers
- Houston Astros: TBD
- Colorado Rockies: Ryan Feltner
- Time: 8:40 PM ET
Feltner is expected to make this start despite having a glute issue. He could have a short leash should struggle early.
Atlanta Braves vs. Los Angeles Angels Probable Pitchers
- Atlanta Braves: Chris Sale
- Los Angeles Angels: Jose Soriano
- Time: 9:38PM ET
Sale has only allowed one run though 12 innings but the strikeouts have not been there. He’s only whiffed nine through 12 innings. Soriano has always struck out less than a batter per inning but his ground ball rate continues to be his calling card, generating at 63% through two starts.
Philadelphia Phillies vs. San Francisco Giants Probable Pitchers
- Philadelphia Phillies: Andrew Painter
- San Francisco Giants: Adrian Houser
- Time: 9:45PM ET
Painter had a stellar MLB debut, striking out eight Nationals while allowing just one run on four hits in 5.1 innings. He’ll face Houser, who struggles against lefties. Last season they tagged him for a .351 wOBA with a 4.86 FIP and eight of 10 home runs he allowed.
