The Kentucky Wildcats landed a seven seed in the South Region of the bracket, and they’ll face off against the 10-seed Santa Clara Broncos.

Kentucky vs. Santa Clara opening odds
The 7–10 line always has the potential to tilt a bracket, and this matchup carries that exact energy. Santa Clara arrives at 26-8 after one of the best seasons the program has produced in decades. Under veteran coach Herb Sendek, the Broncos finished 15-3 in the WCC and pushed all the way to the conference tournament final before falling to Gonzaga. The statistical identity is built around offense and spacing: Santa Clara has averaged about 81.9 points per game, shot 47.2% from the field, and buried 372 three-pointers on the season while hitting 38.2% from deep.
The roster reflects that perimeter-heavy identity. Guards Adama-Alpha Bal and Carlos Stewart have anchored the backcourt, both longtime starters capable of creating shots and stretching defenses. Bal has averaged roughly 13 points and three assists per game across his career while serving as one of the offense’s main initiators. Santa Clara’s attack spreads the floor, moves the ball quickly, and is comfortable playing in games where scoring climbs.
Kentucky enters from a different tier of March expectation. The Wildcats are 21-13 under head coach Mark Pope, finishing 10-8 in SEC play and leaning on a roster built around experienced guards and physical frontcourt pieces. The Wildcats average about 80.8 points per game, reflecting Pope’s faster offensive system compared with earlier Kentucky teams.
The centerpiece has been senior guard Otega Oweh, who averaged 18.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and nearly two steals per game while scoring in double figures almost every night. Around him, players such as Denzel Aberdeen, Kam Williams, and Andrija Jelavić provide length and scoring depth in a lineup designed to play with pace and physicality.
