The Las Vegas Raiders took tight end Brock Bowers in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft after the Georgia star fell out of the top 10. The Raiders are in the market for a quarterback but saw six passers taken in the top 12 picks and opted to go with the explosive tight end instead. Here’s a look at how he fits with his new team.
Raiders TE Brock Bowers fantasy football outlook
Bowers is not going to have great quarterbacks throwing the ball to him with Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell, but he didn’t have that at Georgia either and still racked up big numbers. He’ll likely usurp Michael Mayer as the starting tight end for Las Vegas, and should get some decent looks in this offense. Since the tight end position is not too congested, there’s a chance Bowers can break into the top 12 in his first season.
Brock Bowers’ supporting cast
The Raiders still have Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers, so that means Bowers is unlikely to be facing the opposing team’s best cover guy. The tight end has unique speed and strength, which will give the ability to separate against most linebackers and even some safeties. The biggest issue will be the inconsistent quarterback play but Minshew showed some flashes last year with the Colts and could do enough to make Bowers and the other Raiders skill players relevant in fantasy football.
Where should Brock Bowers rank among TEs in fantasy football?
Bowers is not going to be in the same realm as Travis Kelce and Mark Andrews. He’s likely below players like Sam LaPorta, T.J. Hockenson, Dalton Kincaid, Dallas Goedert and George Kittle too. Will he be in the same realm as players like Jake Ferguson, Tyler Higbee and Gerald Everett? I think there’s a chance Bowers can be ahead of those players, so I’ll probably slot him at TE9 for now.
