One of Saturday Night Live’s most iconic hosts is heading back to Studio 8H.
Ryan Gosling will return to host SNL on March 7 with musical guest Gorillaz, just under two weeks before the release of his highly anticipated sci-fi adventure film Project Hail Mary, which hits theaters on March 20.
The charismatic Barbie and Blade Runner 2049 star will headline the sketch comedy show for a fourth time, bringing him one step closer to the illustrious Five-Timers Club. Gosling and the show even poked fun at the milestone in a hilarious promo in which he jumps the gun and mistakenly celebrates his “fifth” appearance prematurely.
Regardless of how many times he’s hosted, Gosling has carved out a rich legacy on SNL over the years — starring in several legendary sketches, often made even more infectious by his inability to hold a straight face.
With his reputation for creating unforgettable moments — from “Close Encounter” with Kate McKinnon to “Papyrus” to “Beavis and Butt-Head” alongside Mikey Day — fans can count on Gosling to deliver another instant classic on Saturday night.
Gosling, 45, stars as science teacher turned astronaut Ryland Grace in Project Hail Mary, a sci-fi epic directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller (Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse, The Lego Movie, and21 Jump Street) and based on the 2021 novel by Andy Weir (The Martian).
Gorillaz — the influential virtual band formed in 1998 — will make its SNL debut on the heels of its ninth studio release, The Mountain.
