George Washington Revolutionaries vs. Dayton Flyers prediction, pick for NCAAM on Friday 2/27/26

Dayton walks in at 19-9 after drilling No. 23 Saint Louis 77-62, a result that kept the Flyers near the top tier of the A-10 and gave them real momentum heading into the rematch. George Washington answers with its own jolt, coming home at 16-12 after a 104-77 blowout of La Salle, so this is not a soft landing spot for a team trying to follow its biggest win of the season. Below is my preview, prediction, and pick for tonight’s college basketball game between the George Washington Colonials and Dayton Flyers.

Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

George Washington vs. Dayton prediction, preview

GW owns the better raw offense, a bigger glass edge, and more ways to stretch the floor. The Revolutionaries average 83.6 points, shoot 47.5% from the field, and get strong production from deep, while Dayton sits at 76.2 points and still gives up 36.1% from three. But Dayton’s dog case is real because the travel traits are sticky: a 102.0 defensive efficiency on the Torvik sheet, an elite 21.9% defensive turnover rate there, and a massive 47.9 free-throw rate. The recent surge matters because it has not been built on a lucky jumper binge. Dayton has won four straight, all by double digits, and that run includes 82-67 at George Mason, 78-66 over Duquesne, and the Saint Louis ambush.

The frontcourt is where this game changes from the first meeting. Amaël L’Etang, the 7-1 sophomore who missed that January matchup, is not just a body now. He is a real late-season lever. He comes in off back-to-back double-doubles, including 26 points and 10 boards against Saint Louis, and Dayton’s own preview says he is averaging 19.0 points during this four-game heater. Javon Bennett still steers the late clock with 15.9 points, 3.1 assists, and a 90.7% mark at the line, which keeps Dayton live deep into the second half. But George Washington has the two biggest matchup-bending pieces on the floor. Rafael Castro averages 15.9 points and 8.9 rebounds, shoots 64.3%, and returned Tuesday with 16, seven, three assists, and two steals in 24 minutes. Next to him, 6-10 Luke Hunger has turned into a real second hammer, leading the A-10 in February scoring at 20.7 points with 9.1 rebounds and four straight 20-point games.

Dayton vs. George Washington pick, best bet

In their first meeting, Dayton won 79-72 despite getting outshot from the field and losing the rebounding battle. The Flyers forced 22 turnovers, turned those mistakes into 31 points, and went 27-of-30 at the line. That script fits Dayton’s best identity perfectly. It pressures handlers, steals possessions, and turns a cleaner offense into a messy one. That is the single biggest threat again, especially with Jean Aranguren’s playmaking coming with real turnover risk. But this rematch is not the same geometry. Castro and Hunger combined for only 10 points in Dayton. Now the twin-tower look is back, and GW has more interior force, more rebound pressure, and a much higher chance of punishing Dayton’s weakest structural area.

The spot also leans home side, and late February spots matter big. Dayton just spent major emotional capital flattening Saint Louis. Now it travels on a short turnaround into a Blue Out against an 11-3 home team looking for payback. George Washington’s league record still looks ordinary, but that undersells the current roster. The Revolutionaries went 2-4 without Castro. Since the frontcourt has started to come together again, the offense has looked far more like the team that rated this well all year. Chris Caputo’s group is not just hoping for shotmaking tonight. It has a repeatable separation path through the paint, the glass, and second chances.

That is why the cleaner angle is not the spread. Dayton still has the better one-possession survival tools, so a short number can get sweaty late. Bennett’s foul-line profile and Dayton’s turnover pressure can keep this inside one trip even in a loss. But at the current board, the stronger statement is about who is better positioned to win the game, not who is likelier to cover a tiny hook. George Washington has the more credible separation engine tonight—bigger frontcourt scoring, stronger offensive rebounding, and the healthier ceiling at home.

I want George Washington -2.5 at. If Dayton turns this into another whistle-and-chaos game, we’re in trouble. But all signs point to the Revolutionaries finally having enough size, structure, and home-court lift to finish the rematch.

George Washington 79, Dayton 75.

Best bet: George Washington -2.5 (-115) vs. Dayton
