UCLA Bruins vs. Washington Huskies prediction, pick for NCAAM on Saturday 2/07/26

This one still carries Pac-12 residue, even with Big Ten stakes stapled to it. Washington arrives in the late window at 12–11, chasing traction and a clean road identity. UCLA is 16–7, living in the league’s top half and protecting its seed line at home. The first meeting ended in an 82–80 squeeze, so there’s no casual start available. Pauley Pavilion amplifies every empty trip, and this matchup turns on quick, violent possession swings. Below is my preview, prediction, and pick for tonight’s college basketball game between the UCLA Bruins and the Washington Huskies.

Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

UCLA vs. Washington prediction, preview

UCLA scores 78.9 per game, allows 69.7, and lives at a +9.2 margin, while Washington allows 73.3 and needs clean offense to keep pace. The shot-quality gap leans home, too: UCLA creates a 54.0% eFG and holds opponents to 48.8%, while Washington sits at 50.8% created and 49.8% allowed. The possession game isn’t a pure sprint, but it isn’t a crawl either, with 70.9 possessions per game on the Washington side and 68.9 on UCLA’s. The hinge is giveaways and the quality of the threes that follow them: UCLA only turns it over 9.4 times per game and forces opponent turnovers on 16.3% of plays, while Washington’s defense is closer to neutral at 12.9% opponent turnovers per play.

The headliners fit the stakes, and the roles explain the shape. Tyler Bilodeau (F) carries the UCLA scoring posture at 18.2 points per game, and Donovan Dent (G) is the pace-setter at 7.0 assists, the guy who decides whether a possession breathes or breaks. The this can get ugly fast swing is how clean UCLA’s last-game starters looked: Dent posted eleven assists, Xavier Booker (F) ripped 24 on ten-for-eleven shooting, and Bilodeau stacked 19 with seven boards. Washington’s answer is real size and real usage: Hannes Steinbach (F) sits at 17.8 points and 11.4 rebounds per game, and he’s the one piece that can keep Washington scoring even when the guards see a crowd. If Zoom Diallo (G) can keep the ball moving at 4.3 assists per game without donating live-ball mistakes, Washington can make this a possession-by-possession tug instead of a runout problem.

Washington vs. UCLA pick, best bet

The obvious pushback is that Washington has a clean cover path baked into the matchup math. UCLA concedes a ton of opponent three-point rate at 45.0%, so Washington can get volume looks without forcing the issue. Washington also rebounds at a 33.5% offensive rebound rate, and UCLA’s defensive rebounding rate sits at 70.2%, so second-chance shots can keep the dog attached even on a mediocre shooting night. The refutation is that UCLA contests the exact shot Washington needs most: opponents shoot only 29.8% from three against UCLA, and Washington’s own three-point clip is 32.2%, which is a thin base for a road dog living on volume. If UCLA wins the turnover margin like it usually does, the extra attempts and the cleaner looks show up on the scoreboard.

So I’ll pinch my nose and take UCLA -5.5 (-105). UCLA is only 10–13 ATS, which matters, but the home floor has been ruthless at 13–1, and Washington is 3–6 away, which is the context this spread is pricing. The under has a little historical backing in this specific matchup run too, with the last ten head-to-head games trending 3–7 to the over, and it also fits Washington’s season-long scoring shape at 8–15 to the over/under. The spread can fail if Washington hits a quick three-spike and steals a backdoor in the late foul window.

The script I expect is UCLA squeezing the middle of the floor and making Washington finish possessions through contest, not comfort, because UCLA’s opponent eFG sits at 48.8% and the opponent three lives under 30%. Offensively, UCLA should keep Dent in high ball screens and flow into quick-hitter spacing for Bilodeau, because UCLA’s assist-to-turnover profile is elite at 1.691 and the turnover rate is only 12.2% per play. Washington’s best resistance is pounding Steinbach touches and hunting extra possessions on the glass, but that’s a grind lane that usually shortens totals. I’ve got UCLA winning the shot-quality minutes and the turnover minutes, then closing the door with halfcourt control.

UCLA 75, Washington 67.

Best bet: UCLA -5.5 (-105)
