A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which is officially halfway through its first season, just delivered a massive plot twist. While the show doesn’t boast the same world-ending stakes of Games of Thrones or House of the Dragon, it just made its ties to the rest of the franchise far more clear. On top of that, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is about to make history amongst the primetime George R.R. Martin adaptations on HBO.

When does A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms come out?
Like Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon and most other major HBO titles, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will release one episode a week. There will only be six episodes in season 1, but the network already renewed the show for season 2 set to premiere in 2027.
Season 1, episode 4 will drop on Friday, February 6 at 3 a.m. ET. HBO shifted the release date up from its typical Sunday night slot, presumably to avoid going head-to-head with Super Bowl LX between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks. This marks the first time ever that a Game of Thrones show has not premiered on a Sunday. The only other times the show ditched its typical schedule was the penultimate episodes of seasons 3 and 4 – The Rains of Castamere and The Watchers on the Wall – were pushed a week so they didn’t air over Memorial Day weekend.
Friday’s episode, titled “Seven” is expected to have a runtime around 34 minutes, with the following two episodes also coming in between 31 and 37 minutes.

Who will show up in episode 4?
The smaller scope and shorter runtime of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms are going to limit how many characters we meet over the course of this season. Dunk just jumped head-first into a conflict between major houses, though, meaning he will continue to come face-to-face with the high lords and knights he has met along the way. What to expect in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms episode 4
The twist that book readers have known since the beginning finally made it to the screen in episode 3. Egg revealed to Dunk and the rest of the tournament that he is, in fact, Aegon V, one of the Targaryen princes that went missing on the way to Ashford. While Egg didn’t want to reveal this, given the fact that he shaved his signature silver hair to hide his identity, he needed to end the ruse when Aerion was on the verge of knocking out Dunk’s teeth.
Egg may have saved Dunk from his short-tempered older brother, but the hedge knight is still in hot water. He punched a prince, after all, and the sneak peak for episode 4 shows him sitting in a jail cell. Protecting Tanselle may have seemed like the chivalrous and honorable thing to do, but Dunk is learning first-hand that knighthood isn’t as cut-and-dry as he believed it to be. Although Prince Baelor – Egg’s uncle and the heir to the Iron Throne – appears to be sympathetic to Dunk’s case, there are only so many strings he can pull. Aerion is going to propose a Trial of Seven, which is effectively a trial by combat, but with seven champions on each side. As a result, Dunk must recruit six other knights to his cause, presumably pulling from the cast of characters we met in the first three episodes.
Dunk’s trial is suddenly taking center stage at the tourney, and it’s just a matter of who else joins him in the spotlight.
