Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard is set to remain sidelined for at least two games due to his lingering knee issues. This is a familiar issue for the six-time All-Star, with availability being the biggest factor holding him back in the conversation for where he stacks up among the league’s best throughout his career. NBA TV’s Chris Haynes reports the six-time All-Star is being sent home from the Clippers’ road trip for treatment on the issue. Leonard will be reevaluated on Wednesday.

This puts a halt to what has been a career-best statistical season for the two-time Finals MVP. Leonard has suited up for 30 of a possible 41 games so far this season. He is averaging 28.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists and a league-leading 2.2 steals per game while shooting 39.9% from beyond the three-point arc.

The Clippers have also started to turn the season around after a disappointing start. After getting off to a 6-21 start to the season, Los Angeles has won 12 of its last 14 games. It is currently on a five-game winning streak and has climbed to 10th place in the Western Conference with an 18-23 record.

Injury issues have been a consistent issue for Leonard in his career, and an extended absence would be a major hit to the Clippers’ outlook if he is to miss extended time.

Looking at the odds for this season on DraftKings Sportsbook, Los Angeles holds +110 odds of making the playoffs and hold the eighth-best odds of winning the Western Conference at +4500 odds.
