The 2026 PGA TOUR season gets underway this week with the Sony Open at Waialae Country Club (par 70, 7,044 yards, Bermuda greens) in Honolulu, Hawaii. This par 70 has hosted every Sony Open since the event was added to the PGA TOUR schedule in 1965 and Nick Taylor (-16) is the defending champion, after defeating Nico Echavarria in a playoff a year ago. After usually hosting 144 golfers, this year’s Sony Open features a field of 120 and after the first two rounds, there will be a standard top-65 and ties cut.
Waialae Country Club is a short, coastal course that features wide fairways, thick rough, large greens, 83 bunkers and water in play on four holes. This track is a less-than-driver venue, where being long isn’t necessary and being in the right spot in the fairway is crucial. Driving stats aren’t overly important at Waialae CC, but being in strong form with your irons is a must, as three of the last five winners here have finished the event top-five in SG APP. Scoring well on the par fours at Waialae CC is also vital, as this track is a traditional par 70 with 12 par fours. Of the last five winners at Waialae CC, four have finished the tournament top-10 in par four efficiency.

Top DraftKings PGA TOUR DFS Bargain Plays for the Sony Open
Billy Horschel ($7,400) – Horschel has made 5-of-8 cuts at Waialae CC with two top-20 finishes and he is coming off a solid season in 2025, making the cut in 10 of his 15 solo starts, including seven top-30 finishes. Horschel has gained strokes on approach in five of his last six starts and growing up in Florida, Horschel has a knack for competing at courses that are home to Bermuda greens.
Four of his eight PGA TOUR wins have come at tracks with this type of putting surface and Horschel has advanced to the weekend in four of his last five starts at courses with Bermuda greens. If Horschel can continue to strike the ball at a high level like he was in the fall, a top-20 finish will be within reach for him this week.
Emiliano Grillo ($7,400) – Grillo made 20-of-28 cuts with nine top-25 finishes last season, most notably with a runner-up at the John Deere Classic in July and a T4 at the Procore Championship in September. The professional out of Argentina is a great ball striker, who ranks 28th in SG APP when we compare this field’s last 24 rounds and Grillo has been successful at Waialae CC in the past, making 6-of-9 cuts with three top-25 finishes.
Grillo has shot two 7-under 63s at Waialae CC, one of which came during his T7th finish at the Sony Open two years ago, which is his best finish to date at the event. Grillo was priced up to $8,400 for his last start and at this discounted $7,400 salary, he is a great bargain this week.
Seamus Power ($7,100) – Power closed last season in awesome form, making nine of his 10 final cuts of the year. The Irishman finished T7th at the RSM Classic in his last start and he has shot under par in 14 of his last 16 rounds. Furthermore, Power has gained strokes on approach at three consecutive tournaments.
The veteran now will look to carry this momentum over to Waialae CC, where he has made 4-of-7 cuts, including a T3 in 2022. Power brings much better upside than his $7,100 salary suggests and he can be trusted in all formats this week.
Nick Dunlap ($6,500) – Dunlap had a disappointing 2025, making just 13-of-25 cuts, but the two-time PGA TOUR winner found some life in his game at the end of the season. In his final three starts, Dunlap finished T44th, MC and T8th, in that order. The 22-year-old gained strokes on approach at all three of these events and during that T8 that came at the World Wide Technology Championship in November, Dunlap opened the tournament with a ridiculous 11-under 61 at El Cardonal, which was one stroke shy of his career low.
Dunlap is an erratic player, so he is best reserved for GPPs, but his game appears to be in a good place heading into the new season and he is vastly underpriced for the upside he brings at Waialae CC if he can maintain the strong form. In his first attempt at Waialae CC last season, Dunlap finished T10th.
