Texas A&M vs. Auburn (9:00 p.m. ET)
Texas A&M doesn’t have a dominant player, but it has a deep roster with five players averaging 10 or more points. The Aggies have a ton of veteran players with extensive experience: Rashaun Agee, Marcuss Hill, Rylan Griffen, and Pop Isaacs. Texas A&M has gone 9-1 in its previous 10 games since November 18.
The first year of the Steven Pearl era at Auburn hasn’t gone to plan so far. Auburn was 5-1 to begin the season, with its only loss at the time coming against Houston. But since then, the Tigers have gone 6-4 with three of the four losses by at least 28 points. Auburn lost its last game to Georgia, 104-100 in overtime, on January 3. They have lost three of their last five contests, with their previous two wins coming against Queens and Chattanooga.
Even though Texas A&M might have more depth, Auburn has the best player in this game with Keyshawn Hall, who is averaging 20.1 points and 7.9 boards per game. Sophomore guard Tahaad Pettiford has tremendous upside, but has been inconsistent this season. Pettiford scored 25 points in his last game against Georgia but had five in the two before that.
Since Auburn has lost its last three games against top-tier opponents, it is hard to predict which version of the Tigers will show up. Texas A&M has the potential to win this game outright, but the safer play is getting them to cover the spread of +6.5.
