Things are moving quickly for the San Antonio Spurs. After some lottery luck landed them the second overall pick in this past draft, it was another feather in their drafting cap. Dylan Harper gave them a young trio to bank on between Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle. Now the rebuild is accelerating rapidly, and Harper hitting the ground running has been a key to that. Their first chance at some hardware comes tonight in Las Vegas for the Emirates NBA Cup Finals against the New York Knicks.

San Antonio is a 2.5-point underdog for tonight’s game at DraftKings Sportsbook, with the total set to 233.5. Below, I’ve highlighted my favorite prop bets centered around the No. 2 pick

Dylan Harper 15+ Points Scored (+249)

Harper’s profile in the draft was clear. He’s tall, strong and fast, even by point guard standards. Harper can get downhill in a hurry, plays well off two feet and has great finishing skills. The playmaking sense is there. A lack of shooting was the only thing that threatened to hold him back.

Ironically, he came to a team that employs his closest NBA comparison: De’Aaron Fox. It makes the comparison between the two all the more entertaining. So far, the shooting hasn’t stuck as Harper is hitting only 26.3% of his threes. But wow, are the drives popping.

Harper averages 10.4 drives per game in 21.9 minutes per game. In terms of drives per minute played, he leads the team. This constant rim pressure has brought excellent results. 42% of Harper’s shot attempts come at the rim and he’s shooting 67% on those attempts.

The consistency from the rookie is admirable. He’s played nine games since his absence due to a foot injury. After ramping up his minutes over two games, Harper has at least 10 field goal attempts in seven straight games. Now that the team is healthy and the bench group is solidified, Harper has the license to cook with the second unit.

And cook he shall against these Knicks. They don’t have a bona fide rim protector. Players like Josh Hart and Guerschon Yabusele are getting consistently beaten at the rim as small-ball fours. It’s the ideal matchup for Harper to get busy in the scoring column and help deliver some hardware to San Antonio.
