UPDATE: Gafford will not return.

With 1:37 left in the third quarter of Wednesday’s game against the Miami Heat, Daniel Gafford was subbed out for Dwight Powell after injuring his ankle on an offensive rebound attempt. Gafford was able to walk off the court on his own power, but is now in the locker room.

Prior to exiting, Gafford contributed two points, five rebounds, and a steal in 14 minutes of action.

Anthony Davis started at center with Gafford and Dwight Powell backing him up. Dereck Lively is still out with an injury, so Moussa Cisse would see an uptick in playing time if Gafford is out for an extended period of time.

Dallas next plays on Friday when they travel to Oklahoma City. They’ll then return home to host the Houston Rockets on Saturday night.

Stan joined DraftKings in December of 2020. It was a glorious time, except for that whole COVID thing, when we got Madden streams and boisterous bat flips from the KBO. I was brought on board to bring some West Coast flavor. I especially love hoops, and most of my content is in that arena. When I walk along the beach, strumming my guitar, the beat that I hear is not one of crashing waves. No, it is the beat of the ball bouncing off the hardwood with highs provided by the squeaks of the sneakers. Ball is life.
