Nothing is quite guaranteed yet, but it’s almost certain that the NFC East will have its first repeat champion since 2003-04, as the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles hold a 3.5-game lead over the Dallas Cowboys atop the division. They’ll have a chance to push that lead to a virtually insurmountable 4.5 games by beating the 5-2-1 Green Bay Packers in an 8:15 p.m. ET Monday Night Football clash.
Philadelphia is on the verge of making history in part because DeVonta Smith is having the best season of his career, averaging 73.5 yards per game and catching four-fifths of his passes.
The Eagles are 1.5-point underdogs for tonight’s clash at DraftKings Sportsbook, with the point total set to 45.5. Below, I’ve detailed my favorite prop bet centered around Smith.
Best DeVonta Smith Prop Bet on DraftKings Sportsbook
DeVonta Smith 60+ Receiving Yards (+108)
60+ receiving yards is a pretty low bar for Smith, who has had a trio of extremely impressive performances lately while establishing himself as Philadelphia’s best receiver amid a frustrating season for A.J. Brown. After a slow first four games, he hung 114 yards on an impressive Denver Broncos secondary featuring Defensive Player of the Year Patrick Surtain II, 183 on the Minnesota Vikings’ elite defense, and 84 on just six catches in Week 8 against the New York Giants. His 61.8% success rate and 80.0% catch rate both far out-pace Brown, and they rank 33rd and 31st, respectively, among 194 pass-catchers with at least 17 targets so far this season.
In the aggregate, Green Bay’s secondary has been above-average but not elite this season. The Packers have allowed the 11th-fewest yards per game, the 15th-lowest passer rating, and added the 13th-most expected points. While they’ve been extremely efficient on a per-reception basis, allowing the fewest yards per catch of any team in the Super Bowl era, they’ve still allowed the 12th-highest completion percentage, and Jalen Hurts ranks third in completion percentage over expectation this season. Plus, the team’s slot corner, Javon Bullard, has been far less impressive in coverage than outside cornerbacks Carrington Valentine and Keisean Nixon, and Smith has primarily lined up in the slot this season. It should be a more appealing proposition for Hurts to throw to him against Bullard than Brown against Valentine.
