There are seven games taking place across today’s Sunday NBA slate. Teams around the league are reaching their 10-game mark with the pack starting to separate for where teams rank across each conference. Today’s action will begin at 3:30 p.m. ET, with a matchup between the Houston Rockets and Milwaukee Bucks, and build out to the 9:00 p.m. matchup between the Sacramento Kings and Minnesota Timberwolves.
There are plenty of ways to get involved in the action across DraftKings Sportsbook. This article will look at my three favorite NBA prop bets across tonight’s slate.
Karl-Anthony Towns Over 11.5 Rebounds (+101)
The New York Knicks will face off with the Brooklyn Nets tonight, who are shaping up to be one of the worst teams in the league at a rapid rate. They enter with a 1-8 record on the season, ranking 29th in opponent points allowed, 30th in rebounds per game and 23rd in opponent rebounds allowed. Brooklyn also ranks dead last in overall rebounding percentage at 46.5% so far this year.
Karl-Anthony Towns enters the matchup averaging 19.8 points and tied with a career-high 12.8 rebounds per game. He has tallied 10+ rebounds in every game this season and has tallied over 11.5 boards in five of the eight games. Towns is also registering a sky-high 21.4 rebounding chances per game, which ranks fifth in the NBA.
The biggest concern in this outlook would be the Knicks turning this game into a blowout and Towns’ on-court opportunities being limited. But expect the five-time All-Star to assert himself early and load up his rebounding production. Michael Porter Jr. is currently the Nets’ leading rebounder at 8.0 per game, and Towns will have no problem winning the rebounding battle against Brooklyn throughout. Count on the Knicks’ big man pulling in 12+ rebounds for the sixth time already this season, just as he did in 40 of the 72 games last year.
Trendon Watford to Record 25+ Points, Rebounds & Assists (+160)
The Philadelphia 76ers injected Trendon Watford into the starting lineup for the first time last night. The LSU product responded by producing his first career triple-double with 20 points, 17 rebounds and 10 assists in a victory over the Raptors. He entered the season sidelined with a hamstring injury and has gradually seen his role scaled up. There is a clear need for his skill set in the Sixers’ offense, with his playmaking chops particularly shining, and Watford should see his role even further expanded with Joel Embiid set to miss tonight due to it being on the second night of a back-to-back.
Philadelphia will take on the Detroit Pistons tonight, who sit at the top of the Eastern Conference with a 7-2 record. The Sixers have been a pleasant surprise themselves with a 6-3 record to start. Power forward was a position of concern for the Sixers entering the season, and Watford is making a clear case why he deserves to hold down this role. In the three games he has played 20+ minutes in, Watford is averaging 17.3 points, 7.6 assists and 9.6 rebounds per game.
The 6-foot-9 forward clocked a season-high 36:30 of game action last night, and the Sixers will need his size against the jumbo Detroit frontcourt. Expect Watford to make an impact in each statistical category and put forth a well-rounded box score. He has tallied 25+ combined points, rebounds and assists in back-to-back games and three of his past four even while seeing his minutes limited. Expect Watford to build off this and put forth another strong statistical output tonight.
Donte DiVincenzo Over 2.5 Made Three-Pointers (-157)
The odds are a bit steep here, but Donte DiVincenzo’s three-point market has been red-hot this year. Through his opening nine games, the Villanova product is averaging 14.4 points, 3.8 assists and 3.8 rebounds. DiVincenzo is shooting 42.3% from beyond the three-point arc while launching 7.9 perimeter shots per game.
The Timberwolves will be facing off with the Kings tonight, who are vulnerable on the defensive side of the ball. Opponents are scoring 121.7 points per game against the Kings, which ranks 28th in the league. This includes teams shooting 35.8% from beyond the three-point arc against them, which ranks 15th in the NBA.
DiVincenzo has attempted seven or more three-pointers in six of the nine games this year, including 11+ attempts in three of the four games in November. He has connected on three or more long-range shots in seven of the nine games this season. This also includes three games this season with five or more made three-pointers. The former NBA Champion is coming off a season-worst 1-for-4 three-point shooting performance on Friday, and this is a great matchup for him to bounce back in. Expect DiVincenzo to get back on the right track and to be ready to return to his usual level of three-point outlook. Count on him to record over 2.5 made three-pointers for the eighth time already this season.
