Spooky season is upon us, but the only thing getting a scare for sneakerheads this month may be their wallets.
The month starts strong with few tricks and plenty of treats, including the Air Jordan 11 “Rare Air,” new colorways of the Nike A’One, Ronnie Fieg’s latest collabs with Asics and the much-anticipated signature follow-up from Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards.
Here’s your playbook for the top sneakers dropping this month.
Top Sneaker Drop of October 2025: Adidas Anthony Edwards 2

Release Date: October 4 ($130)
I was tempted to go with the Air Jordan 11 “Rare Air” here, but I already shared my thoughts on Jordan Brand’s plans for the iconic Air Jordan 11’s 30th anniversary and, honestly, the Anthony Edwards 2 is a very interesting shoe.
The Anthony Edwards 1 was one of the biggest signature sneaker debuts in recent memory. That shoe went hard and became popular on and off court, even getting some love from various sneaker of the year lists. Moreover, Adidas did a smart thing and allowed the shoe to breathe, not jumping to replace it with a new model. They kept pumping out new colorways in the high and low, even giving Travis Hunter his own football cleat version.
Now comes the hard part. Adidas and Edwards have to prove the Anthony Edwards 1 wasn’t a one-hit wonder. Some weren’t sure about the design when we saw early leaks, but for most it actually looks better than how it was originally received. You can see how some design elements, such as the toe box, have evolved from the Anthony Edwards 1s, but also where some new elements have been added. Adidas says of the shoe on its website:
These performance basketball shoes are all about supporting the high-flying, high-speed action that has made Edwards an international superstar. Combining the energy-return of BOOST and the ultra-lightweight cushioning of Lightstrike, these shoes are designed for players who dominate with their speed and athleticism.
Can the 2s approach the succes of the 1s? I think that’s a tough ask. Sequels almost never reach the heights of the original and the excitement surrounding Edwards’ debut sneaker feels like something of a lightning in a bottle moment. That’s not to say these can’t be a hit, especially if Edwards continues to play well on the court and let his personality shine off of it as he does in the commercial for the 2s. But I’m definitely taking a wait-and-see approach with these even if Adidas basketball appears to be in a better place than it has been in a long, long time.
