Go ahead, call Mark Andrews washed. All it does is turn him back into a demon. Just when things looked dire, Andrews rebounded with a massive Week 3 performance against the Detroit Lions. And it has put him back into the forefront of the mind of DFS lineup constructors.
After having only two catches for seven yards in the first two weeks, Andrews exploded for 91 yards and two touchdowns on six catches in Week 3. A sure-fire TE1 week can erase a lot of rough performances. But he’ll have his work cut out for him to keep it up against the Chiefs.
Kansas City has made a habit of taking him off the board when they play the Ravens. In six matchups against the Chiefs since 2018, here are Andrews’ combined numbers: 26 targets, 15 catches, 123 yards, zero touchdowns. That comes down to an average of 2.5 catches and 20.5 yards while catching only 58% of his targets. Kansas City’s excellent coverage linebackers, along with defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo’s elite scheming, has consistently taken Andrews out of the game.
It’s been no different this year for other tight ends; Kansas City has allowed the third-fewest DFS points to tight ends through three weeks. With Andrews priced as the TE6 in the DraftKings DFS Fantasy Football Millionaire contest, it makes his inclusion a difficult prospect.
Andrews’ history against the Chiefs cannot be ignored. Nor can the fact that players behind him have been more productive and fit better into your lineups. If you can, go for someone like Tyler Warren for $300 more or Dalton Kincaid at $200 more. But Andrews needs to find some consistency before we can trust him in DFS lineups.
