Picks, Best Bets for UFC Fight Night: Ulberg vs. Reyes

Published:

By: Ryan Wohl

Tonight’s UFC Fight Night is headlined by two of the best Light Heavyweight contenders in the UFC, Carlos Ulberg and Dominick Reyes. This event is taking place in Perth, Western Australia, for the first time since August 2024. The Main Card begins at 10:00 p.m. ET, as the Prelims begin at 7:00 p.m. ET.

Here are my best bets for tonight’s UFC Fight Night from Perth.

Carlos Ulberg To Win By KO/TKO/DQ (-145)

I’m all in on City Kickboxing and am backing two of their fighters on this card. Let’s start with Carlos Ulberg, who has the biggest fight of his career tonight. Ulberg’s last two wins have come against two tough veterans, Volkan Oezdemir and Jan Blachowicz. Although they are tough veterans, they lack the game-changing power that Dominick Reyes possesses. Reyes has proven over the last two years that he is back to being a contender at 205 pounds.

But Ulberg has all the tools to not only defeat Reyes but do so in spectacular fashion. Ulberg has won eight straight fights in the UFC, with four of them coming by knockout. Recently, Ulberg has shown patience, but when the “Black Jag” presses forward and is aggressive, it is hard for opponents to stay in the contest. With Ulberg being a -250 favorite, the best value play is to get him to win by KO/TKO/DQ at -145 on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Since Magomed Ankalaev is defending his title against Alex Pereira on October 4, Ulberg and Reyes are fighting at the perfect time to earn a title shot in the future. With big stakes attached, both fighters should look for a finish, making it unlikely this bout goes the distance. Although Ulberg is only one year younger, he hasn’t absorbed the fame Reyes has had in the past.

Navajo Stirling To Win By KO/TKO/DQ (+110)

The second fighter from CKB I am backing on this card is Navajo Stirling, who is facing Rodolfo Bellato in the featured Prelim bout. On DraftKings Sportsbook, Stirling is the favorite at -258 with Bellato being a +210 underdog.

Stirling is seven years younger than his teammate, Ulberg, but possesses the same upside. With Stirling’s four-inch reach advantage (79″ vs. 75″) while being taller (6’4″ vs. 6’3″). Stirling averages 6.43 significant strikes per minute, and with this fight most likely taking place on the feet, it favors him against Bellato. Stirling’s last knockout came on Dana White’s Contender Series. After two wins by decision, Stirling needs to have another highlight finish to continue his rise in the sport.
