Phillies World Series Odds Surge After Clinching NL East Title

For the second straight year, the Philadelphia Phillies are the NL East Champions after defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-5 in the 10th inning on September 15. This is the first time since 2011 that the Phillies have won the NL East in back-to-back seasons.

The Phillies have had their ups and downs this season, but since August 1, they have an MLB-best 29-14 record. On DraftKings Sportsbook, Philadelphia opened the season at +210 to win the NL East and was as big as +230 underdogs on May 1.

Also, the Phillies opened with +900 odds to win the World Series, and were as high as +1300 on May 1. Currently, Philadelphia is the favorite to win the 2025 World Series at +450, with the Dodgers having the second-best odds of +500. The Phillies were +750 to win the National League on May 1 and are now +230.

Philadelphia has a 4.5-game lead over the Chicago Cubs for the No. 2 seed in the NL. The No. 1 seed is still within reach for the Phillies, as they are 1.5 games back from the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Phillies are the first team to clinch their division, and according to OptaSTATS, they are the second team to do so on September 15 or earlier after being 5+ games back. The Cincinnati Reds achieved this feat in 1975 and went on to win the World Series.
