On DraftKings Sportsbook, Alvarez is a -175 favorite with Crawford being a +140. Both fighters are in an unfamir position as Canelo has recently been a massive favorite in his past few fights, while Crawford isn’t used to being an underdog.
This is one of the most significant championship boxing fights in sports history. That is because Canelo is a two-time Undisputed Champion, and the challenger, Crawford, is a former two-division Undisputed Champion. If Crawford can pull off the upset, he would become the first male to become an Undisputed Champion in three different divisions.
Since Crawford is the fighter who last fought at 154 pounds, you would think he would be the smaller fighter. But that isn’t true as he has a three-and-a-half-inch reach advantage (74″ vs. 70.5″) while being taller (5’8″ vs. 5.7.5″).
Canelo has a 63-2-2 record with 39 knockouts in his legendary career. In 2022, Canelo lost his second career bout to Dmitry Bivol, but since then, he has won six straight contests. On the other hand, Crawford has a perfect 41-0 record with 31 knockouts. This is Crawford’s first fight in 2025 and has been inconsistent lately, only competing once in the previous five years (2020-2024).

He went from 147 pounds to 154 and is now facing Canelo at 168 pounds. Another question mark for Crawford is his activity, as this will be his third fight in the last 26 months.
This matchup is as close as it gets, but I give the edge to Crawford because he is the fighter who has more to gain. Everyone questions his activity and strength of schedule, but that all goes away if he wins. Crawford has been a pound-for-pound great for a few years now, and if he moves up 21 pounds from his last world championship fight, he cements his legacy.
