After Thursday’s first round of the John Deere Classic, the field is looking up at Doug Ghim ($7,200; 67 FPTS), who shot a -9 (62) and leads by one stroke.
The day began well with birdies on the first two holes. He then added an eagle and another bogey to close out the front nine. After a birdie on the first hole of the back nine, he alternated par and birdie over the next six holes.
In the $700K Summer Sand Trap tournament, Ghim is rostered on 5.29% of teams.
DraftKings Sportsbook has Ghim as the favorite to win it all at +900.
The most rostered golfer is Ben Griffin ($10,400; 10.5 FPTS) at 38.28%.
Griffin had a lone birdie on the front nine. After another birdie on the first hole of the back nine, Griffin racked up two bogeys and finished the round at E (71).
There is only one other golfer rostered on at least 20% of teams: Denny McCarthy ($9,900; 31 FPTS) at 25.87%.
McCarthy racked up two birdies on the front nine. On the back nine, he drained a birdie on the second hole then had a three-birdie streak on Holes 5, 6 and 7. There was no unblemished round, though, as he notched a bogey on the final hole.
McCarthy is +1800 to win it all, the sixth-lowest odds.
Data Golf projects a -4 cutline at 39.2%.

Pierceson Coody ($8,400; 6.5 FPTS) is rostered on 14.92% of teams. Coody birdied the first and last holes of the front nine with two bogeys in between. The back nine was rough, though. Coody had three double-bogeys and a bogey to finish the round +8 (79). Data Golf gives him a less than 1% chance of making the cut.
J.T. Poston ($10,100; 7.5 FPTS) is rostered on 10.95% of teams. Poston had a bogey and a birdie on the front nine. The back nine consisted of three bogeys in the last five holes. Poston finished the round +3 (74) and has a 4.5% chance of making the cut, according to Data Golf.
Jason Day ($10,500; 8.5 FPTS) is rostered on 14.02% of teams. Day had two birdies and a bogey on the front nine. On the back nine, he racked up two double-bogeys to finish +3 (74). Day has a 7.1% chance of making the cut, according to Data Golf.
Alex Smalley ($7,900; 7.5 FPTS) is rostered on 11.22% of teams. Smalley birdied the first hole of the day, but followed that up with two bogeys on the next two holes. He got a stroke back with a birdie five holes later. The back nine consisted of two bogeys on the first two holes, a bogey on the final hole and a birdie in the middle. Smalley finished Thursday +2 (73) and has an 11.7% chance of making the cut, according to Data Golf.
Nico Echavarria ($7,800; 5.5 FPTS) is rostered on 12.57% of teams. It was an unexciting day for Echavarria, as he notched a lone bogey on the final hole of the front nine. He is +1 (72) and has a 20.8% chance of making the cut.
Lucas Glover ($9,000; 7.5 FPTS) is rostered on 12.36% of teams. Unlike Echavarria, Glover’s round was action packed. He birdied the first hole of the day, but had three bogeys and a birdie the rest of the front nine. On the back nine, he racked up two bogeys and two birdies to finish the day +1 (72). Data Golf gives him a 24% chance of making the cut.
