UPDATE: X-rays on Ramirez’s right forearm have come back negative, per MLB.com’s Tim Stebbins.
Jose Ramirez left Thursday afternoon’s game vs. the Blue Jays after being hit by a pitch in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Toronto slugger Valdimir Guerrero Jr. was hit by a pitch during the top of the third inning, forcing him to leave the game as well. Jose Ramirez’s subsequent injury was likely an act of retaliation by Blue Jays starter Kevin Gausman.
Any absence for Ramirez would be a crushing blow for the Guardians. The 32-year-old is currently slashing .318/.378/.516 with 13 home runs, 38 RBIs and 20 steals. The six-time All-Star delivered a walk-off single last night to secure a 5-4 Cleveland victory.
Nolan Jones replaced Ramirez in Cleveland’s lineup, with Daniel Schneemann shifting over to third base.
