Rocket Classic Picks: PGA TOUR Golf Best Bets on DraftKings Sportsbook

Updated:

By: Landon Silinsky

The PGA TOUR heads to Detroit, Michigan, this week for the Rocket Classic. Detroit Golf Club will be the host course and measures as a 7,370-yard par 72 with a mix of Bentgrass/Poa Annua greens.

We’re back to a full-field event this week with 156 golfers and a 36-hole cut. While this is not a Signature Event, the field remains quite strong. World No. 5 Collin Morikawa is the current betting favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook at +1200, while Patrick Cantlay (+1600), Keegan Bradley (+1800) and Ben Griffin (+2200) round out the top of the odds board.

Below I have outlined my two favorite bets for the week.

Cameron Young to win (+2500)

Young had a disappointing finish at the Travelers last week after a strong start. He simply could not get anything going over his final three rounds after opening with a 65. I am willing to forgive him for that, however, since TPC River Highlands is not the best fit for his game. Young is a bomber through and through, and TPC River Highlands is a 6,800-yard par 70 where distance is neutralized and wedge play takes center stage.

Young should be right back in his element this week at Detroit Golf Club, as this event has been won by bombers four of the six years it’s been held. He has elite course history here as well, posting finishes of T6 and T2 in his two career starts. However, the one thing that Young has now that he didn’t in those previous two trips is an elite putter. The Rochester native ranks ninth on the PGA TOUR in SG: Putting this season, and sixth when filtering for only this field.

As mentioned above, Young had been rolling prior to last week, having finished T7 or better in three of his previous five starts. The 28-year-old has never won on the PGA TOUR, as many are aware, but his time is coming and it’s going to be at a course like DGC where it finally does happen.

At 25/1, Young is one of the better values on the board this week.

Cameron Davis to win (+8000)

It’s hard to believe that Davis, the defending champion and two-time winner of this event, is being so heavily overlooked. Now I get it, he’s been largely horrendous this season, making the cut in just nine-of-17 starts with just one top-10, which came all the way back in January.

With that being said, Davis’ form heading into last year’s event wasn’t much better. The Aussie had gone MC, T56, T50, MC, T48 leading into his win in 2024. This year, he enters with a similar run of results (T19, MC, MC, T64, T57) over his last five starts.

While nothing in the data suggests that Davis will contend this week, the reality is that he loves this golf course and has the requisite skill set needed to win here. Even putting aside his two victories, Davis has finishes of T14 and T17 as well at this event, further illustrating how comfortable he feels in Detroit.

At 80/1, he’s a no-brainer addition to the card.
