After Thursday’s first round of the Travelers Championship, two golfers sit atop the leaderboard at -8: Austin Eckroat ($6,100; 67.5 FPTS) and Scottie Scheffler ($13,300; 62.5 FPTS).
Eckroat racked up three birdies on the front nine. On the back nine, he had a streak on Holes 13, 14 and 15 consisting of an eagle, birdie and birdie. He then closed out the round with a birdie on the final hole.
Scheffler started his day with two birdies on the first two holes. He then notched three more birdies on the front nine. On the back nine, he had two birdies and an eagle before producing his only blemish of the day, a bogey on Hole 17.
In the $800K Summer Sand Trap tournament, Eckroat is rostered on 2.63% of teams while Scheffler is the most rostered golfer by a wide margin at 43.97%. Scheffler is the only golfer on more than 20% of teams.
DraftKings Sportsbook has Eckroat at +2500 to win it all, the fourth-lowest odds, and +100 to finish Top 10. Scheffler is the heavy favorite to win it all at -140.
Here are the golfers rostered on at least 10% of teams that had some trouble Thursday:
Jordan Spieth ($8,200; 1 FPTS) is rostered on 10.95% of teams. He withdrew from the tournament after 12 holes due to a neck injury.
Sepp Straka ($9,200; 10.5 FPTS) is rostered on 14.27% of teams. On the front nine, Straka had a double-bogey, bogey and birdie on Holes 4, 5 and 6. He double-bogeyed the first hole of the back nine before getting those strokes back with two birdies a few holes later. Unfortunately, he notched another two more bogeys to close out the round, finishing +4 (74). Straka is currently T68.
Shane Lowry ($8,300; 11.5 FPTS) is rostered on 11.6% of teams. Lowry bogeyed the first hole of the day before notching a birdie and a bogey to close out the front nine. On the back nine, he had a bogey on the second hole then had a streak on Holes 14, 15, 16 and 17 that consisted of birdie, bogey, birdie and bogey. He finished +2 (72) and is currently T60.
Robert MacIntyre ($8,400; 11.5 FPTS) is rostered on 12.69% of teams. MacIntyre had a bogey and a birdie on the front nine. On the back nine, he had a birdie and a double-bogey. He finished +1 (71) and is currently T51.
Si Woo Kim ($7,800; 12.5 FPTS) is rostered on 10.02% of teams. Kim bogeyed the first and last holes of the front nine. In between, he notched two birdies. After bogeying the first hole of the back nine, he closed out the round with a birdie and a bogey to finish +1 (71). He is T51 heading into Friday.
Akshay Bhatia ($7,400; 13.5 FPTS) is rostered on 10.43% of teams. Bhatia had a clean front nine. He bogeyed the first hole of the back nine before getting those strokes back with two birdies. He finished E (70) for the day.
Maverick McNealy ($7,600; 13 FPTS) is rostered on 10.05% of teams. McNealy had two bogeys on the front nine and two birdies on the back nine to finish E (70) for the day.
