After Thursday’s first round of the U.S. Open, J.J. Spaun ($6,700; 55 FPTS) was atop the leaderboard.
Spaun is now looking up at Sam Burns ($7,100; 68 FPTS) by one stroke.
Spaun and Burns took different paths over the first two days of the U.S. Open, but essentially ended up in the same place. Spaun went -4 (66) on Thursday but finished +2 (72) on Friday. Burns finished +2 (72) on Thursday then blistered the course for a -5 (65) on Friday.
On Friday, Burns racked up four birdies on the front nine. After a bogey on the first hole of the back nine, he drained two birdies. Spaun had two bogeys sandwiched around two birdies on the front nine. He went bogey, birdie to start the back nine, then finished the day with two bogeys, a birdie and another bogey on the last hole.
In the $3M Fantasy Golf Millionaire tournament, Spaun is rostered on 3.19% of teams while Burns is at 16.23%.
DraftKings Sportsbook had Spaun at +1200 to win it all, tied for the third-lowest odds, and -110 to finish top-10 after Thursday. He is now +700 to win it all, still the third-lowest odds, and -225 to finish Top 10. Burns is now the favorite at +330 to win it all and -400 to finish Top 10.
The most rostered golfer is Scottie Scheffler ($14,400; 28.5 FPTS) at 37.44%. Bryson DeChambeau ($11,000; 16 FPTS) is right behind at 36.84%.
Scheffler finished Thursday +3 (73). He improved by two strokes on Friday. After a birdie on the first hole of the day, he closed out the front nine with two bogeys. The back nine alternated bogey, birdie, bogey and birdie for the first four holes before closing out the round with a birdie and a bogey. Scheffler is +4 for the tournament and T23 heading into the weekend.
DK Sportsbook had Scheffler at +650 to win it all, the second-lowest odds, and -190 to finish top-10 after Thursday. He is now +800 to win it all, the fourth-lowest odds, and -225 to finish top-10.
DeChambeau finished Thursday +3 (73). On Friday, he said hold my beer, as he finished +7 (77) and missed the cut. The day started ominously with a bogey on the first hole. He got back a stroke two holes later, but then racked up three straight bogeys before stopping the bleeding with a birdie. The back nine wasn’t much better, as he again bogeyed the first hole. He got it back on the next hole but gave it right back with another bogey. He continued to dig deeper as he then had a three-hole streak of double-bogey, bogey and bogey.
DK Sportsbook had DeChambeau at +1800 to win it all, the fourth-lowest odds, and +130 to finish top-10 after Thursday.
Jon Rahm ($10,200; 27 FPTS) is rostered on 25.67% of teams, the third-most. He was the favorite to win it all at +550 on DK Sportsbook and -225 to finish top-10 after Thursday. He is now +220 to win it all, the seventh-lowest odds, and +115 to finish top-10 after Friday.
Rahm bogeyed the first hole of the day. He then closed out the front nine with two bogeys on the final two holes. On the back nine, Rahm had a double-bogey and birdie before a bogey on the final hole of the day. He finished +5 (75) for the day and is +4 for the tournament, placing him T23 heading into the weekend.

Shane Lowry ($7,800; 10.5 FPTS) is rostered on 24.81% of teams. Data Golf gave Lowry a 5.6% chance of making the cut after Thursday’s +9 (79). Lowry squashed any hopes for optimism after the first four holes of the day: bogey, double-bogey, bogey and bogey. He drained a birdie to close out the front nine then racked up two more bogeys and a double-bogey on the back nine to finish +8 (78) for the day. He ended the tournament +17.
Sepp Straka ($7,700; 12.5 FPTS) is rostered on 22.37% of teams. Data Golf gave Straka an 11.1% chance of making the cut after Thursday’s +8 (78). He finished Friday +3 (73) and finished the tournament +11, T105. On Friday, Straka racked up three bogeys and a birdie on the front nine. On the back nine, he had three bogeys and two birdies.
Joaquin Niemann ($8,600; 12 FPTS) is rostered on 20.4% of teams. Niemann shot a +5 (75) on Thursday. He replicated the feat on Friday. On the front nine, Niemann had two birdies sandwiched around a bogey. On the back nine, he had a double-bogey and a bogey in the first three holes before notching a three-bogey streak on Holes 6, 7 and 8. Niemann finished the tournament +10 and T91.
Tommy Fleetwood ($8,800; 14 FPTS) is rostered on 19.43% of teams. Fleetwood shot a +4 (74) on Thursday. He went +5 (75) on Friday with four bogeys on the front nine and two birdies, a bogey and a double-bogey on the back nine. He finished the tournament +9, T80.
Ludvig Aberg ($9,600; 16 FPTS) is rostered on 14.94% of teams. He went +2 (72) on Thursday, but finished Friday +6 (76), missing the cut by one stroke. The front nine was brutal for Aberg, as he racked up five bogeys, which included a three-bogey streak on Holes 7, 8 and 9. The back nine consisted on one bogey. Aberg finished T68.
