MLB Prop Bets for Wednesday, May 21, 2025

Dustin May under 16.5 outs recorded -120

Dustin May has struggled recently, allowing at least three runs in four of his last five starts, including seven against the Cubs. As a result, he typically exits before completing five innings. His outs total betting line of 16.5 implies he would need to record at least two outs in the sixth inning, a feat he has achieved only once in his eight starts this season. The Diamondbacks have hit May’s primary pitches—a sinker and a sweeper—effectively. Arizona’s expected lineup tonight has a combined .372 wOBA and .214 ISO against his sinker and a .319 wOBA with a .205 ISO against his sweeper. Given these trends, I doubt May will exceed 16.5 outs tonight.

Matt Olson 2+ total bases +100

Trevor Williams starts for the Nationals tonight against the Atlanta Braves in Washington, D.C. Left-handed hitters have dominated him this season, with Williams posting a .433 wOBA, a 4.87 FIP, and allowing all five of his home runs to lefties. He relies primarily on a four-seam fastball and a sweeper, both of which Matt Olson has hit for power. Olson is currently on a hot streak, recording a hit in four consecutive games and at least a double in each. During such streaks, Olson’s power is especially evident.

Philadelphia Phillies over 3.5 runs through first five innings +100

The Phillies face a high team total of 4.5 runs through the first five innings, but I believe they can exceed it. The Rockies start rookie Carson Palmquist, who is making his second major-league appearance and his first at Coors Field. In his debut, Palmquist allowed five runs on six hits in four innings against the Diamondbacks. The Phillies, a strong offensive team against left-handed pitchers, should exploit his inexperience. Despite Palmquist’s strikeout ability in the minors, he failed to record a strikeout in his debut. If he struggles to generate swings and misses, the Phillies’ contact hitting at Coors Field could prove problematic. Additionally, Palmquist may not pitch five fulleditorialized innings, potentially exposing the Rockies’ bullpen early. In their ongoing series, the Phillies have scored 10 runs against the Rockies’ bullpen over the past two games

Good luck with these MLB picks tonight!
