How to Play King of the Diamond on DraftKings Sportsbook
King of the Diamond requires bettors to use a token on a pre-game parlay that must include a player to hit a home run. Same Game Parlays (SGP), SGPx and parlays are the eligible bet types. Whichever parlay form a bettor chooses must have 2-5 legs.
Any game that starts before 6 p.m. ET on the slated day will not be eligible for the King of the Diamond promotion. There is not an odds minimum. Unless using a boosted token, the bet minimum is $5.
The King (or kings) of the Diamond is decided based on the highest scoring team of the slated night. For example, suppose the Los Angeles Dodgers are the highest scoring team, and Shohei Ohtani hits a home run. In that case, all bettors who entered Ohtani to hit a home run in their eligible parlay and opted in to the contest will share in a $1 million prize pool.
The player only needs to hit one home run to qualify for a share of the prize pool. For example, if another Dodger hit two home runs and the Dodgers are the high scorers of the night, Ohtani still qualifies as the King of the Diamond. If two or more teams tie for the highest scoring team, all batters on those teams who hit home runs would qualify. For more on tiebreaker scenarios and eligible bets, refer to this article.

The Giants added two more runs in the eighth inning to give them nine on the night and finish as the highest scoring team. Wilmer Flores was the only San Francisco player to hit a home run, so he is your King of the Diamond for Friday’s slate!

Update: 10:56 p.m. ET
Although the St. Louis Cardinals scored 10 runs, they failed to hit a home run and are off the board. That means the Houston Astros remain at the top of the board, and Christian Walker the potential King of the Diamond.
But other teams are threatening. The Philadelphia Phillies rallied for four runs in the seventh to take a 5-3 lead, and a home run in the late innings could put them in a tie or the outright lead. The Pirates could get back into things with a few more runs on the board. The Seattle Mariners also bear watching, up 3-0 going into the sixth inning due to a J.P. Crawford dinger and this towering blast from Rowdy Tellez:
Elsewhere on the board, the Diamondbacks have three runs, but no balls have reached the bleachers. The Angels got a two-run shot from Yoan Moncada, but miles to go before threatening the lead. We’ll keep you updated as the night winds down.

After hours in the lead, the Tigers have fallen behind. The Houston Astros rallied for six in the top of the seventh, punctuated by this massive three-run shot:
That takes our Tigers off the board and makes Christian Walker our leader for King of the Diamond tonight. The Cardinals still have more runs on the board, but no homers in the top of the ninth inning. Stay tuned.
Update: 10:15 p.m. ET
More games are going final. The Yankees cinched a 6-2 victory, taking that game off the board. The Marlins went homerless despite the nine runs, and that 9-4 game is off the board. And despite a tense bottom of the ninth, the Detroit Tigers brought home a 5-4 victory. As an aside, they also became the first team in the majors to reach 30 wins. Who saw that coming????
That leaves the Tigers with five runs as the mark to beat. We have a new contender in the fray as well on the strength of this home run:
Alexander Canario bombed his third home run of the season to the opposite field, giving the Pirates a 3-1 lead they still hold. We also got this blast to give another squad three runs:
If Pittsburgh can score two more, Canario would tie at the top of the leaderboard. Two more Nationals runs would put James Wood and Nathaniel Lowe in a tie with our Tigers. It’s going to be a heated race to the finish.
Update: 9:55 p.m. ET
Boy, do we have some updates for you! The Atlanta Braves are off the board, scoring only four runs. The New York Yankees are up 6-1 going into the 9th inning, but have no home runs, so they’re off the board. The Marlins still have nine runs but have failed to hit a home run. Meanwhile, in Toronto, the Javier Baez renaissance continues:
As the Tigers are only up 5-4, it’s worth mentioning that the Blue Jays have home runs from Bo Bichette and Daulton Varsho, and could find themselves in the contest with a tying run.
The St. Louis Cardinals also bear watching. They’re up to seven runs behind breakout hitter Ivan Herrera:
But, once again, the Cardinals have not hit a home run! So, despite being the fourth highest scoring team on the night, the Detroit Tigers remain the leaders in King of the Diamond. That would put Javier Baez, Riley Greene, and Zach McKinstry in the money. Stay tuned as the first slate begins to go final.

We have a new leading team on the scoreboard! The Marlins have rallied for not one…
Not two…
But THREE total runs in the bottom of the sixth!
The Marlins are up 8-4 over the Rays in their intra-Florida matchup. But with no home runs, our two Tigers remain in the lead in tonight’s contest. Stay with us for more updates.
Update: 8:48 p.m. ET
The Yankees won’t stop rolling. After a four-run third inning, the Yanks added another two in the bottom of the fourth:
Still homerless, the Yankees are up 6-1 on the Mets. Though time is beginning to run out, it would be a surprise if the team with 76 home runs in 43 games went homerless for an entire contest.
It’s also worth keeping an eye on the Rays. Though also homerless, they put up three runs in the top of the fifth, giving them four total.
So, for our highest scoring teams, the Yankees have six runs, Miami has five, and the Rays and Tigers have four. Detroit, however, remains in the lead of the contest as they are the only squad with a home run.

The Tigers are up to four runs! This 111.4 MPH scorcher of a double off the bat from Riley Greene gave the Tigers a brief tie for the lead:
That came only moments before this massive hit by Miami Marlins infielder Connor Norby:
The Marlins are now the highest-scoring team on the board, but since they haven’t hit a home run, the Tigers are the top team in King of the Diamond. Riley Greene and Zach McKinstry are the home run hitters for that squad. Stay tuned as the updates come in left and right.
Update: 8:20 p.m. ET
The Yankees added to their rally! After going up 3-0 with two outs and runners on the corners, Mets starter Tylor Megill walked two straight batters, scoring a run here:
It’s uncharacteristic of this Mets pitching staff, which is off to one of the best starts in league history. Still no home runs, but the Yankees are building on their scoreboard and awaiting a home run.
Update: 8:07 p.m. ET
The Atlanta Braves aren’t the sole leading scorers on the board anymore. The New York Yankees got two runs on this infield single and error combo:
(That’s a good throw, don’t listen to “Judge Enjoyer”)
This was followed by a sacrifice fly to go up 3-0 in the Subway Series. Though they haven’t hit any home runs, they’re in a good position to produce a King of the Diamond while at Yankee Stadium. Helps that the Bronx Bombers are the league leaders in home runs.
While we’re at it, the Detroit Tigers briefly tied for the lead at two runs, courtesy of this home run by Zach McKinstry:
We in the industry call that pitch a “meatball slider”. Detroit will have to put more on the board, but two home runs from McKinstry and Riley Greene is a strong start.

More homers! Here’s a powerful shot to right field by Nationals first baseman Nathaniel Lowe:
That’s the first run of the game for the Nationals. Though they still trail the Braves, who remain up 2-0, it’s worth monitoring as the Nats play at Camden Yards against an Orioles team on the skids.
Update: 7:30 p.m. ET
We have our first home runs of the night! In the top of the second inning, Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene smashed one to dead center field.
But Detroit’s lead was not to be. In the top of the second inning of the Braves-Red Sox contest, Matt Olson and Sean Murphy went back-to-back off Boston ace Garrett Crochet:
Atlanta holds a 2-0 lead in the early going. As the early runs roll in, expect more updates soon.
