The Timberwolves lost Game 1 in part due to Edwards’ lack of efficiency. The star scored 23 points on 9-of-22 shooting and made just one three-pointer. He led the NBA in made three-pointers this season, but he’s struggled over the past two games, draining just 1-of-16.
While one of those games was against the Lakers, it did continue against the Warriors. Golden State’s defense stifled Minnesota’s star in Game 1.
Without Curry in the lineup, the Timberwolves are heavy favorites at home. Golden State’s offense takes a major blow, but its defense actually improves. The two-time MVP isn’t a complete liability on defense, but there are better defenders in the rotation.
When Curry is on the floor, opponents have an offensive rating of 115.2. That decreases to 107.4 when he’s off the floor. There will be more solid defenders on the floor tonight with Curry out, which could hinder Edwards’ game again.
