MLB Prop Bets for Thursday, May 8, 2025
Philadelphia Phillies team total bases over 13.5 -110
I’ve been targeting the over on a team’s total bases when facing Rays starter Ryan Pepiot. Through seven starts, Pepiot has allowed 21 extra-base hits, including eight home runs. Although the wind won’t be strong tonight, it will blow out at Steinbrenner Field. Pepiot relies heavily on his four-seam fastball, using it 42% of the time. The Phillies’ expected lineup tonight boasts a combined .352 wOBA and a .181 ISO against that pitch, based on data since last season. Pepiot has struggled at home, with all eight home runs surrendered at Steinbrenner Field, which shares the same layout as Yankee Stadium. I’m expecting significant offensive output from the Phillies tonight.
Brandon Pfaadt under 16.5 outs recorded -120
Brandon Pfaadt faces a tough matchup tonight against the Dodgers at home. Regression looms, as his 3.79 ERA contrasts with a 5.31 xERA. Recent outings show signs of trouble: he’s allowed 10 runs (eight earned) on 18 hits over his last two starts, totaling 10.2 innings. The Dodgers, fresh off scoring 21 runs in three games against the Marlins, won’t make it easier. Pfaadt evenly distributes four pitches—four-seam, sinker, sweeper, and changeup. While the sweeper remains effective, the Dodgers boast impressive metrics against his other three pitches. I don’t expect Pfaadt to last long, inning-wise, tonight.
Good luck with these MLB picks for tonight!
