Rose shot a 65 on Thursday with eight birdies and a bogey, but things were much different on Friday. On the front nine, Rose had two birdies sandwiched around a bogey. On the back nine, he had two birdies and two bogeys.
Rose finished -1 on Friday and is -8 for the tournament heading into the weekend.
In the $4M Fantasy Golf Millionaire tournament, Rose is rostered on 4.89% of teams.
DK Sportsbook had Rose at +750 to win it all, the fourth-lowest odds, after Thursday. He remains at +750 after Friday, which is still the fourth-lowest.
Scottie Scheffler ($12,400; 42 FPTS) was the favorite at +200 after Thursday. He is now at +360, the third-lowest odds, after Friday’s71. He had three birdies and a bogey on the front nine. The back nine was very rough. He bogeyed the first two holes before notching two birdies. Unfortunately, he finished the day bogey, birdie then bogey. Scheffler is rostered on 24.31% of teams.
The most rostered golfer is Rory McIlroy ($11,100; 19 FPTS) at 26.79%. After Thursday’s even-par, McIlroy was +1200 to win it all, the fifth-lowest odds. He is now tied for the favorite at +330 after Friday’s 66. McIlroy had an unblemished round, with a birdie on the front nine then three birdies and an eagle on the back nine. McIlroy is -6 for the tournament, two strokes behind Rose.
Bryson DeChambeau ($9,900; 63 FPTS) is rostered on 15.62% of teams and is tied with McIlroy at +330 to win it all. DeChambeau had an eventful Thursday with four birdies and two bogeys on the front nine, then two bogeys and three birdies on the back nine. Friday was a different story, as he racked up four birdies on the front nine, then a bogey and a birdie on the back nine. He is now -7 for the tournament, one stroke behind Rose.
The cut line is +2. Here are the golfers rostered on at least 10% of teams that won’t be playing the weekend:
Russell Henley ($8,400; 24.5 FPTS) is rostered on 19.84% of teams. I thought Henley was toast after Thursday’s 79. He had a 7.4% chance of making the cut. To his credit, he bounced back on Friday with a 68, but missed the cut by one stroke. Henley bogeyed the first and last holes of the day. In between, he racked up six birdies.
Keegan Bradley ($7,000; 24.5 FPTS) shot a 74 on Thursday. He was better on Friday, but only by a stroke. He got things started off on the right foot with two birdies, but gave those strokes back with a double-bogey on Hole 7. On the back nine, he had two bogeys and a birdie. Bradley is rostered on 17.92% of teams and missed the cut by one stroke.
Sergio Garcia ($7,100; 20 FPTS) is rostered on 13.04% of teams. He missed the cut by two strokes. Garcia went even-par on Thursday. On Friday, he finished +4, as the front nine demolished him. Garcia bogeyed the first hole of the day, got back the stroke with a birdie on the next hole, but then had four bogeys to close out the front nine. On the back nine, he had a bogey and a birdie.
Sepp Straka ($7,600; 33 FPTS) is rostered on 21.17% of teams, the fourth-most. He shot a 78 on Thursday and had an 11.5% chance of making the cut. Straka was much better on Friday, finishing -1, but he missed the cut by three strokes. On the front nine, he had two birdies sandwiched around a bogey. On the back nine, he birdied the first hole then had a three-birdie streak on Holes 12, 13 and 14. Unfortunately, he finished the day with a bogey and a double-bogey on the final two holes.
Cameron Smith ($8,200; 18 FPTS) is rostered on 11.39% of teams. Smith went -1 on Thursday but got clobbered on Friday with a 78. He missed the cut by three strokes. The front nine had a birdie and a bogey, but then the bogey monster made an appearance on the back nine. Smith racked up four bogeys and a double-bogey.
Robert Macintyre ($8,000; 18.5 FPTS) is rostered on 16.52% of teams. He shot a 75 on Thursday then replicated the feat on Friday. At least he’s consistent. Thursday’s round had a birdie with two bogeys and a double-bogey. On Friday, Macintyre racked up six bogeys, which included a three-bogey streak on the final three holes of the round. He drained three birdies. Macintyre missed the cut by four strokes.
Lucas Glover ($6,600; 18 FPTS) is rostered on 11.03% of teams. He had a 9.2% chance of making the weekend after shooting a 78 on Thursday. On Friday, he went +2 and missed the cut by six strokes. Glover had three birdies, a bogey and a double-bogey on the front nine. The back nine consisted of two bogeys and a birdie.
Will Zalatoris ($8,300; 22.5 FPTS) is rostered on 12.65% of teams. He went +2 on Thursday then followed that up by going +6 on Friday to miss the cut by six strokes. Zalatoris had a bogey and a birdie on the front nine. On the back nine, he had a bogey, a birdie and three double-bogeys.
