It’s Problem Gambling Awareness Month and DraftKings is reinforcing its commitment to Responsible Gaming through a series of initiatives and key milestones, including the renewal of its State Council Funding Program to further support nationwide resources.
DraftKings is the first operator to have a State Council Funding Program and has contributed millions of dollars to support the efforts of 34 state problem gaming councils since 2022. This year, the company will provide additional funding to these councils, including those in states where it does not operate.
DraftKings is also marking the one-year anniversary of its industry-first My Stat Sheet tool. Launched in 2024, the industry-first feature offers players personalized insights into their gaming behavior with intuitive charts and data. Nearly half of all DraftKings players have visited My Stat Sheet, with 13 million unique total visits to date. My Stat Sheet gives DraftKings’ players a detailed view of time spent, deposits, withdrawals, contest participation, wagers, and net wins or losses. Players can review their stats across different timeframes, promoting reflection on their play, and complementing the other tools and resources available in DraftKings’ RG Center.
“At DraftKings, Responsible Gaming is fundamental to our mission, and we are committed to making tools, resources, and education available to all our players to help them play responsibly,” said Lori Kalani, Chief Responsible Gaming Officer at DraftKings. “Through initiatives like My Stat Sheet, which provides players with their personalized play data, and our new national awareness campaign, we’re reinforcing the importance of responsible play. Additionally, with the renewal of our State Council Funding Program, we’re continuing to support organizations that expand access to resources and education for players, their families, and communities.”
In addition to renewing its State Council Funding Program, DraftKings is launching a national Responsible Gaming-focused advertising campaign to raise awareness for responsible play. With branding support from professional leagues like the NFL, NBA, NHL and PGA TOUR, the ad emphasizes the importance of setting limits and making informed choices.
Directed by Emmy-winning, Oscar-Nominated SMUGGLER Director Henry-Alex Rubin and set to air ahead of the NCAA men’s and women’s basketball tournaments, the ad is expected to reach millions of viewers, reinforcing responsible play and promoting sports betting as entertainment strictly for adults. The American Gaming Association (AGA) estimates that Americans will legally wager $3.1 billion on the men’s and women’s college basketball tournaments this year.
“Overall this was an incredible experience working with the DraftKings and creative teams, and a reminder that I have the best job in the world,” Rubin said. “Everyone brought the right energy to uplift this spot to where we needed it to be.”
Set to Kenny Rogers’ The Gambler, Rubin says the key to the ad was the musicality and the timing. He says the song is “fun and catchy and makes you smile, a good reminder that at the end of the day it’s about having fun with your friends.”
DraftKings’ Chief Marketing Officer Stephanie Sherman also added, “The ad captures the spirit of fun and bringing people together, which is part of the core experience we strive to create for our customers. With its well-known and memorable lyrics, this music is a fantastic way to reinforce that sports betting is more fun when it’s for fun, and remind people to always play responsibly.”
