The MLB is back in action on Tuesday, May 7, with every team scheduled to play, weather permitting. This means that there are 15 games worth of odds and lines to sift through to try and find the best ones. To save you some time, here are our best MLB player prop bets for Tuesday’s slate, with odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.
Teddy Ricketson’s 2024 MLB Player Prop record: 38-33-4
Monday recap: It was a good day to bet on Luis Castillo. He pitched 6.2 innings against the Minnesota Twins and struck out seven, hitting both the over on his outs recorded line (17.5) and alternate strikeout line (6+). As predicted, Walker Buehler got the early hook in his first start in a year and a half, pitching just four innings and allowing three earned runs to the Miami Marlins. He only struck out four, which hit the under we took on his 5.5 line. The lone Monday miss was Marcus Semien going 0-5 in the leadoff spot as the Texas Rangers managed to tally only five hits as a team, so he didn’t come close to his total base over that we picked.
MLB player prop bets: Tuesday, May 7
Zac Gallen over 5.5 strikeouts (-150)
Gallen and the Arizona Diamondbacks go on the road to for series against the Cincinnati Reds beginning on Tuesday. The Arizona starting pitcher skipped his last start due to a hamstring injury but has a good matchup upon his return. Cincinnati has lost five games in a row. The Reds have struck out 47 times in their losing streak, with starting pitchers tallying at least six punch-outs in three of the games. Barring a hamstring flare-up, Gallen should punch out at least six on Tuesday.
Dakota Hudson 2+ walks (-200)
Hudson will pitch against the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday. The Giants come into this game after losing four in a row to the Philadelphia Phillies. San Fran’s hitters drew at least two walks per game in three of the losses. Hudson has walked at least two batters in five of his six starts this season, including the most recent four.
Reynaldo Lopez 5+ strikeouts (-280)
Lopez’s line against the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday is 5.5 (-125), and while I feel good he hits the over, I am sacrificing some odds to get coverage if he finishes with just five. He will be making his sixth start of the season and has struck out at least five hitters in each of his starts so far this year.
Amed Rosario 1+ hits (-290)
I’m adding in an extra player prop on Tuesday to show the hitters some love. Rosario’s hit prop line is 1.5. While Chicago White Sox starter Michael Soroka (0-3, 6.48 ERA) has had a bad start to the year, I am hesitant to bet on a multi-hit game for Rosario as he has just two multi-hit games in his last 11. He is hitting .308 on the season and enters Tuesday 5-16 in his career against Soroka, and should tally at least one base hit.
