The second half of the NBA season continues on Tuesday with seven games set to tip off. Among the matchups to watch, the Cavaliers hope to continue their dream season in a playoff rematch with the Magic. Later, Luka Doncic faces his former team for the first time when the Mavericks visit Los Angeles. There’s plenty of ways to get in on the action with DraftKings NBA Pick6 fantasy basketball selections before tonight’s matchups!
Immanuel Quickley more than 17.5 points
Injuries took a toll on Immanuel Quickley this season, limiting him to just ten games played prior to February. Luckily for Raptors fans, the guard has looked terrific as of late. Over his last five outings, the 25-year-old has averaged 20.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.4 assists for Toronto. Doing so with RJ Barrett and Scottie Barnes active has shown that IQ can be a reliable third option.
Positive trends aside, Tuesday’s matchup is tough for any guard. The Celtics are difficult to beat on the perimeter, allowing the seventh-fewest points per game (108.9) and the third-lowest three-point percentage (34.7%) to opponents. With that being said, Quickley has often done well in this spot. The Kentucky alum has recorded at least 18 points in four of his last six meetings with Boston. Given Toronto’s recent success on offense, I’m willing to back IQ one more time.
Damian Lillard more than 3.5 three-pointers made
Following a mediocre first year in Milwaukee, Damian Lillard has bounced back this season. The future Hall of Famer has looked more comfortable on offense, picking his spots while playing alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo. Through 46 games, the guard has posted 25.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 7.5 assists while shooting 44.9% from the field.
Lillard is one of basketball’s most dangerous scorers, but he’s not immune to an occasional letdown game. Look no further than last week’s 2-of-12 shooting vs. the Clippers. A similar challenge could be in store on Thursday against the Rockets. This season, Houston has given up 12.2 three-pointers made per game, the second-lowest mark in the NBA. Dame has reached four treys only once over his last five appearances. All signs are pointing to a disappointing day from beyond the arc for the veteran.
De’Aaron Fox more than 11.5 assists + rebounds
In the span of one week, the Spurs have seen their season turned upside down. A blood clot has sidelined Victor Wembanyama, leaving San Antonio without its best player for the foreseeable future. Now, much of the focus turns to De’Aaron Fox, acquired earlier this month from the Kings. The point guard has enjoyed another solid campaign, producing 24.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 6.3 assists over 53 games.
Going forward, Fox might need to deviate from his typical score-first approach. Defenses will now prioritize stopping the 27-year-old, leaving several San Antonio teammates open in the process. In that regard, tonight’s matchup is promising; this season, the Pelicans have allowed the third-most rebounds (55.1) and the fourth-most assists (28.7) per game to opponents. Fox has reached 12 assists + rebounds in each of his previous four outings vs. New Orleans. The former All-Star is poised for an impressive all-around stat line on Tuesday.
Miles Bridges less than 7.5 rebounds
With Brandon Miller (wrist) out for the rest of the season, Miles Bridges has stepped up for Charlotte. The forward isn’t the most efficient, shooting 43.4% from the field (32.4 3PT%). Still, he’s managed to average 20.2 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. On a Hornets team starved for offense, those counting stats can’t be overlooked.
Even against a stout Warriors defense, Charlotte’s second-best scorer should find a way to clear 20 points. The wing might not be as successful on the glass. While Golden State loves its small-ball lineups, the team has limited opponents to just 52.3 boards over the past three games. That’s the ninth-lowest mark in the NBA. Bridges has reached eight rebounds only three times over his last nine appearances. Facing a tenacious Dubs squad, it’s hard to envision that changing on Tuesday night.
Brandin Podziemski more than 13.5 points
The Warriors are back, reeling off five wins over their last six games. Newcomer Jimmy Butler deserves plenty of praise, but several other factors have contributed to Golden State’s recent success. Several role players were traded to Miami, forcing the Dubs to give Brandin Podziemski a larger workload. The guard has responded nicely, putting up 18.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists over his last three games as a starter.
It’s a small sample size, but Podz has proven he can handle a larger workload. A surprisingly decent Hornets defense could present a challenge. However, with most of the defense honed in on Butler and Steph Curry, there should be room for Golden State’s role players to operate. As long as he’s playing 30 minutes or more, Podziemski is capable of hitting this modest line.
LeBron James more than 7.5 rebounds
All eyes will be on Luka Doncic as he faces the Mavericks for the first time. That doesn’t mean we should forget about LeBron James. The four-time MVP has been a fantasy basketball monster, putting up jaw-dropping stat lines on a nightly basis. During the month of February, The King is averaging 29.3 points, 9.1 rebounds and 8.0 assists per game. With numbers like those, it’s no wonder the Lakers have won eight of their last ten games.
Los Angeles, without Anthony Davis, is thin at center. As a result, LeBron has often served as a small-ball big for head coach JJ Redick. While that hasn’t led to a noticeable change in his rebound total, there’s reason to believe that will change tonight. The Mavericks have surrendered 53.1 rebounds per game to opponents, the ninth-highest total in basketball. In each of his last five meetings with Dallas, LBJ has recorded at least eight boards. The ageless wonder is a good bet to go over once again during Tuesday’s primetime showdown.
