The Genesis Invitational: First Round Leader

In the $1M Sand Trap Special tournament for The Genesis Invitational, Scottie Scheffler ($12,300; 32.5 FPTS) is the highest-priced golfer, while Rory McIlroy ($10,900; 18 FPTS) is the highest-rostered golfer at a whopping 41.42%. And it all makes sense because Scheffler is the number-one ranked golfer in the world while McIlroy is coming off a win at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

After Thursday’s first round, though, it’s Denny McCarthy ($6,800; 56 FPTS) who sits atop the leaderboard after shooting a four-under 68, leading the field by one stroke.

Things got off to a nice start as McCarthy birdied the first hole of the round. He racked up two bogeys before draining another birdie to close out the front nine. On the back nine, McCarthy birdied the second hole before closing out the day in exciting fashion, racking up two birdies before notching an eagle on the final hole.

McCarthy is rostered on only 4.96% of teams in the $1M Sand Trap Special tournament.

DK Sportsbook has him at +1200 to win it all, the third-lowest odds in the field. Scheffler is the favorite at +210 after shooting a two-under 70, while McIlroy is at +700, four strokes back of the lead.
