For the first time in Super Bowl history, a rapper will headline the halftime show alone. 22-time Grammy Award winner Kendrick Lamar will perform at the Super LIX halftime show on Sunday, February 9, 2025. Fellow music superstar SZA will join Lamar as a guest at his performance.
Lamar is coming off an incredible past year, winning five Grammy Awards at the latest event. He won a Grammy for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, and Best Music Video. In March 2024, Lamar ignited a feud with Drake after appearing on Future and Metro Boomin’s song “Like That.” The rivalry took a turn in April when each rapper released multiple diss tracks. Lamar’s most popular track, “Like Us,” gained massive popularity over the past year.
Last year at Super Bowl LVIII, Usher headlined the halftime show in Las Vegas, Nevada, at Alligent Stadium. In 2022, Lamar appeared alongside Mary J. Blige and hip-hop legends Eminem, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg at the Super Bowl LVI halftime show. Lamar got his first taste of the Super Bowl halftime show in his hometown of Los Angeles, California, but now he will be the main act on Sunday. Beyonce performed at halftime during Super Bowl XLVII, the last time the big game was in New Orleans, Louisiana.
