UFC CEO and President Dana White announced that Arman Tsarukyan is out of his main event fight at UFC 311 against lightweight champion Islam Makhachev. White said that Tsarukyan is experiencing significant back pain and isn’t healthy enough to fight. No. 10 Renato Moicano was originally scheduled to face No. 9 Beneil Dariush on this card. But Moicano will now replace Tsarukyan in the main event to face Makhachev for the title.
Makhachev is defending his title for the fourth time and second time on short notice. At UFC 294, Makhachev was scheduled to fight Charles Oliveira, but he withdrew due to injury, and he defended his championship against Alexander Volkanovski on 10 days’ notice.
Moicano has won four fights in a row and most recently knocked out Benoit Saint-Denis in September. Makhachev is a big -900 favorite, while Moicano is +600 on DraftKings Sportsbook.
