On Wednesday, the Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Washington Wizards 109-106, who hold the worst record in the NBA. Although Joel Embiid remains out on Friday night due to a foot injury, the Sixers get veteran Paul George back. Tonight, Philadelphia faces the New Orleans Pelicans at 7:00 p.m. ET.
Here is my favorite prop bet for Tyrese Maxey. The Sixers have lost three of their previous five games and will look to rebound against the Zion Williamson-led Pelicans.
Tyrese Maxey under 29.5 points (-115)
With George back in the fold, getting Maxey’s under-in points against the Pelicans tonight is wise. On DraftKings Sportsbook, Maxey’s under-in total points are set at -115. Maxey has only scored 30 or more points once in his last five games. During the previous 15 games, Maxey has only totaled more than 29.5 points five times. Maxey has only hit this scoring mark once in his six contests against the Pelicans in his career.
Maxey is averaging 23.8 points in January, which is two points fewer than his average in December (25.8). Maxey is attempting 1.5 more three-pointers per game, but he only shoots 33.8 percent from long range. This is his lowest percentage on three-pointers since his rookie season.
Maxey scored 29 points against the Wizards without Embiid and George. Since George will be playing tonight, he will take away opportunities from Maxey. Geroge has scored at least 17 points in three of his last four games. He is shooting 14.1 field goals per game. Maxey has scored 29 and 31 points in his previous two games, but his inconsistencies this season make it worrisome to take his steep over in tonight’s game.
