Jahmyr Gibbs ($17,400)
Many “experts” scoffed when Detroit took Jahmyr Gibbs 12th in the 2022 NFL Draft. Positional valuation aside, Gibbs is already a top-five back and an explosive playmaker. The duo with him and David Montgomery is undoubtedly dangerous. Having a physical, bruising rusher paired with an elusive home run hitter is a viable strategy. Montgomery is above average, but Gibbs is elite. With the former on the shelf, the 22-year-old has an uptick in workload, skyrocketing his numbers and the offense’s ceiling.
Gibbs has had over 20 touches in two of the last three weeks and has scored 28 fantasy points in consecutive outings. He’s now getting the bulk of the opportunities near the goal line and taking full advantage. He’s also an extra receiver out there and gets a boost from production through the air. With his talent and this bruising offensive line, it doesn’t matter who he is against. Gibbs is going to produce and be a lineup must-have going forward.
Amon-Ra St. Brown ($15,900)
I’ve written at length about the bizarre Amon-Ra St. Brown campaign. His stats are considerably down across the board. The emergence of Jameson Williams and the recent success of Tim Patrick have erased what previously was a one-man show in the Lions receiver room. Even with the slight dip in the box score, St. Brown has still been wildly productive. He’s averaging a hair of under 20 fantasy points per game and has dropped over 40 twice.
He’s a smooth operator who is a safety valve and a top target. St. Brown gets a lot of easy looks, which helps pad his output. He is dangerous near the end zone, with 11 total scores. Against a banged-up San Francisco secondary, the route-running maestro will feast.
Isaac Guerendo ($12,600)
The 49ers just want this season to end. Almost every impactful starter has spent time on the shelf. They won’t have the opportunity to defend their NFC crown, and uncomfortable questions will need answers. One of the only areas they can hang their hat on has been the organization’s incredible depth at the running back spot.
Rookie Isaac Guerendo came into camp third on the pecking order, but he has gotten his chance to start with Christian McCaffrey and Jordan Mason going down. The Louisville product has blazing speed and is one of the best pound-for-pound athletes in the NFL. He’s netting over five yards a carry and proving his game can translate to the pros. He’ll be the focal point of this flailing offense, which makes him worthy of DFS consideration.
