DraftKings Showdown Value Picks
Ray-Ray McCloud III ($5,400)
Over the last month, the Atlanta offense has failed to overcome dreadful quarterback play, but journeyman Ray-Ray McCloud III has somehow found a way to leave his mark. Primarily a special teams ace since entering the league in 2018, the Clemson alum has finally got a consistent role in the slot. The 5’9″ pass catcher is lightning in a bottle with the rock in his hands, using premier agility mixed with track speed to ravage defensive backs.
For all the dynamic playmakers this roster is supposed to have, it’s McCloud who consistently makes spectacular happen. Even with his smaller stature, his explosiveness helps him get open out of his breaks and create magic downfield. The last few weeks, in particular, have been prosperous for the 28-year-old, netting over 90 yards in each outing.
Las Vegas ranks 30th in EPA per pass defended and struggles with limiting chunk plays on the backend. The secondary is one of the worst units in the league, and if he can continue his streak of three games with at least six targets, McCloud should continue his meteoric rise.
Tre Tucker ($4,000)
The Raiders’ aerial attack has been abysmal since the season-opening kickoff. A revolving door at signal-caller hasn’t helped affairs, but the talent on the outside has also been a glaring concern. Rookie tight end Brock Bowers has been by far the best receiving option, with the best wideout title up for grabs. Second-year pro Tre Tucker has all the tools to be that guy; it just hasn’t materialized yet.
Last week, he earned seven looks but mustered just two snags for a whopping seven yards. It’s the story of Tucker’s campaign—flashes of potential with sparing substance. With 4.3 speed, he can get behind safeties in the blink of an eye and strike fear on the perimeter. The club hasn’t been able to find him enough, but the skill set is encouraging.
The Falcons’ defense is 19th in DVOA and has had more than a few dreadful showings. Regardless of who is under center for LV, if they can just distribute the ball at an average level, Tucker can handle the rest and put together a solid evening.
