UPDATE 5:08 p.m. ET: Dan Quinn, in his postgame press conference, told the media that Austin Ekeler sustained a concussion on the hit that knocked him out of the game.
What with fellow RB Brian Robinson Jr. suffering an ankle injury earlier in the game, suddenly, the Commanders’ healthiest running back on the depth chart is Jeremy McNichols.
Having said that, Ekeler will have every opportunity to clear protocol throughout practice leading up to Week 13. We’ll provide updates on both Robinson and Ekeler here on DKN throughout the week.
UPDATE 4:30 p.m. ET: In addition to Robinson’s injury earlier in the game, Washington’s 1B running back Austin Ekeler left the game in the waning seconds of the fourth quarter after taking a huge hit, and landing on his head.
Oh no. Austin Ekeler was brought down at the end of a long kick return with his head slamming the ground. He was motionless on the field and his teammates immediately began calling for the training staff.
Both teams gathered around him before he eventually came to and was…

The team is unlikely to release any information on Ekeler, who was responsible for a key two-point conversion in Washington’s comeback attempt, before post-game press conferences.
We’ll provide updates here.
UPDATE 2:51 p.m. ET: Brian Robinson Jr. is questionable to return to today’s game with an ankle injury. One assumes whatever was ailing him might have had enough time to unpleasantly swell up during halftime to the point where Robinson’s ankle was no longer a viable tire, as it were, for the car to rely on.
On Washington’s opening drive of the second half, the rushing attack was led by Austin Ekeler and QB Jayden Daniels. One would assume this would be the ongoing dynamic for the rest of the day if Robinson is unable to re-enter play.
UPDATE 1:31 p.m. ET: In a fairly stunning turn of events, Brian Robinson Jr. has returned to the Commanders sideline, and has been cleared to return to today’s game.
UPDATE 1:22 p.m. ET: The Commanders announced that RB Brian Robinson Jr. is questionable to return with an ankle injury. He remains in the locker room with trainers.
Should he return to the sideline, we’ll provide more updates here. In the meanwhile, Austin Ekeler figures to see increased usage as the team’s lead back while Jayden Daniels and co. seek to sparkplug this stagnating Commanders offense.
Before Robinson left the game, he had one carry for negative-two yards. – Dan Johnson
Early in the first quarter of the Washington Commanders’ Week 12 game against the Dallas Cowboys, Brian Robinson Jr. took a hard hit to his lower body on a carry and was helped off the field by trainers. He is now headed to the locker room.
On the play, it looked as if Robinson’s ankle took the worst of the damage, but there’s been nothing official from the team yet.
We’ll provide more updates here on DraftKings Network as the team releases them.
