If you’ve been living under a rock all week, allow me to be the first person to let you know that Nico Collins will be back in action for the Texans this evening. We all know how amazing Collins was to begin the season, but if you need a breakdown on how he might look on Monday Night Football, I’ve got you covered.
Over here, we’ll be looking at how Collins’ return affects Tank Dell, who has been Houston’s faux No. 1 wideout in recent weeks thanks to a separate injury to Stefon Diggs (knee). Dell has racked up nine targets in each of his past two games, yet considering Collins was targeted on a stunning 27.2% of his routes through Week 5, it’s unlikely that that sort of raw volume continues.
Instead, Dell with have to be efficient with his opportunities — something he showed the ability to do quite a bit in his rookie campaign. In fact, Dell averaged 15.1 yards per reception and 2.80 PPR fantasy points per touch in 2023. He hasn’t been nearly as impactful as a sophomore, but he’ll have the chance to take advantage of a glorious matchup in Week 11.
The Cowboys have been awful at stopping the pass all season long, as the secondary has conceded 7.8 yards per opponent pass attempt. That’s the second-worst mark in the NFL. Dallas is also giving up an eye-popping 11.2 yards per opponent pass attempt when playing at home, which is the direct result of surrendering eight opponent passing plays of over 40 yards — the third-most of any defense.
In season-long, you’re starting Dell as a WR3 or a FLEX. There’s really no question about. I do have some concerns about his price tag in Showdown, as his $9,400 salary makes him the fifth-most expensive asset on the slate, yet that could also work to keep his ownership low. In any case, the ceiling is definitely intriguing.
