It seemed like there was a chance that Nico Collins was going to make his return last weekend against the Lions. Unfortunately for the Texans, who could have used the wideout, that didn’t happen. However, we all now knoe that we won’t have to wait much longer, as Collins will make his return on Monday Night Football.
Before we start thinking about Collins’ potential in Week 11, let’s rewind to his pre-injury production. Despite sustaining his ailment very early in Houston’s Week 5 victory over Buffalo, Collins’ numbers after five games were spectacular. The veteran led the NFL in receiving yards (567), was second among all WRs in PPR fantasy points (106.7) and was third in red zone targets (13). Even with Stefon Diggs now in the fold, Collins was being targeted on a whopping 27.2% of his routes — easily one of the highest qualified marks at his position.
In his return, Collins won’t have to worry about Diggs anymore, as his teammate has been lost for the season due to his own injury. Tank Dell has been operating as the Texans’ No. 1 option in recent contests — he’s racked up nine targets in each of the past two games — yet he should cede that title and workload back to Collins on Monday night, if the latter has no limitations.
It would also be hard to ask for a better matchup to ease back into for Collins. The Cowboys are reeling on both sides of the ball, but they’ve really struggled to defend the pass all season. Dallas enters Week 11 allowing a league-high 7.8 yards per opponent pass attempt. That figure jumps to 8.6 yards in the last three weeks. With Cooper Rush under center, the Cowboys offense won’t be able to sustain drives and the Texans’ skill position players should be on the field all night long. That’s a formula for success.
